Bought some new shoes on Amazon yesterday. They should be coming in any minute and I can't wait to hit the track, break them in and calibrate my stride on the fitness tracker.

Had to google that. Those look gimmicky. I grabbed a basic looking pair of Asics Fuzex. I've always run on Brooks, but it was Prime Day and I had a gift card. My local running store closed over the last year, too, and with it went my purchasing record over the last three shoes. Felt like a good time to start fresh.

I think our humidity has only been in the 30s here, but when you get use to the bone-dry heat we usually have, it's just brutal.

I can do my usual 10-miler in 110 heat, came home and my shorts are completely dry.

I ran the other morning in ~80 degrees but ~35% humidity and body was a freaking fountain of sweat. My shoes were squishy like I had just walked through a stream.

I would hate to train in that everyday.

Verb, you're running in much higher humidity than here right now. We're 53% today, twenty points lower than average in July.

It's just brutal. I don't think I'm running outside today. Will probably try and go long on the treadmill tonight although that shit heap is starting to get a slip in the middle of the belt on foot strike.

My wife loves her Hokas, but then she doesn't use them for running. She just enjoys how comfy they are.

Speaking of heat: I was biking (I know, wrong thread) in Bend and holy shitballs. I was only out for a little under three hours and I drank a gallon of water (because I took a gallon with me) as well as three water bottles. It was insane. And there was a guy who did the Pilot Butte climb three or four times while we were there (not riding) and we were only there for about 25 minutes. It's a 1-mile climb up a hill and he's just a machine. Crazy.

Those look interesting. 8MM drop is probably my sweet spot.

I've grown to love my Boston Boosts, but Adidas' top-tier shoes are expensive AF.

I've moved the Boosts into the A spot and now use my minimalist shoes (Ekidens) as my B shoes for tempos and repeats.

Yeah, they looked pretty comparable to the Brooks I'm used to. I remember owning a pair of Asics a while back and don't think they fell apart quickly at all. That's the only problem I've had with my current shoes.

"8MM" refers to the drop from the heel to the toe of a shoe. I trained in "zero drop" shoes for 10+ years, but have recently changed to 4MM and 8MM shoes.

I (and many other runners) rotate at least two pairs of shoes. Typically, one has a little bit more cushion and gets used for your basic EZ run (A shoe) and the other one gets used for race efforts (B shoe).

Repeats can be 400 meters to 1 mile. 1 mile at 90% effort, rest for 2 or 3 minutes, then another one, repeat as desired.

Tempos are harder sustained effort runs, so like 5 or 6 miles at 90% effort. They're meant to prepare you for race day.

Ah. For some reason I thought you were in AZ too.

New shoes didn't come in time for today's run, but whatever. That run felt great, but more couch potatoes like me need to join the RM strava group so I can feel more secure in my laces.
