Watched the new The Mummy movie with the kids last night. We probably should have watched something else

Spider-Man Homecoming was a ton of fun.
Dr. Strange was outstanding.

Totally disagree. Dr Strange was fascinating in theme and structure. The acting was phenomenal. The writing was strong. And the visuals were outstanding. Might be the best Marvel film so far. And it didn't feel at all like a Marvel film. Maybe that's telling.

Interesting - I found it to be the most disappointing so far, and that's saying a lot since Marvel films mostly lost their shine a while agodurdencommatyler wrote:Totally disagree. "Watchmen". Still not sure if I like this outside Haleys great take on Rorschah. Perhaps the original story is so good that it elevates a weaker movie.

I'm pretty anti-Marvel myself these days. Dr Strange surprised the hell out of me. I loved it.Rangi Guy wrote:Interesting - I found it to be the most disappointing so far, and that's saying a lot since Marvel films mostly lost their shine a while agodurdencommatyler wrote:Totally disagree. Greh I found Strange to be second only to Ant Man in cookie-cutter Marvel blandness. Just completely mediocre and inconsequential IMO
It's been years since I saw Watchmen but I remember it being garish and ham-handed. Might change opinion now because my general opinion on Snyder is a bit more nuanced than it used to be

I think what appeals to me in Watchmen is the concept of Dr. Manhattan. This idea of a man who becomes (essentially) God, which turns out to be so disappointing he becomes a nihilist. It feels timely.

I genuinely don't understand the Dr Strange hate. It's shocking to me. I... I had no idea so many of you disliked it. Weird...

I didn't exactly dislike it... this was my post right after watching it and with time I've remembered it less and less favorably

Re: What movies are you watching?
Nothing about this movie was paint by numbers to me. It's the most unique and individual of the Marvel films that I've seen... okay maybe Guardians, MAYBE... Nothing about it reminds me of other Marvel films.
