Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

The Year In Music: 2002

Post by TremorJam »

This was the year I got married and I've been looking back at all the great albums that were released in 2002. Some personal favorites off the top of my head:

RHCP-By The Way
Pearl Jam-Riot Act
QOTSA-Songs For The Deaf
DMB- Busted Stuff
Black Crowes-Live
Audioslave-Audioslave
Black Sabbath- Past Lives

I could keep listing, but I'm intentionally leaving some out and would rather hears others' chime in. I do long for years like this to make a return, where there's more than a couple of records or just live releases to be excited about. 2006 was also a pretty great year, but I'll make a separate thread for that one.

Funny, I was just thinking about this yesterday on my walk to the train. I will always think that 2002 was the greatest year for new music in the past 2 decades.

I believe that there are still more than a couple of releases to be excited about.
2002 was wonderful anyways. You Forgot it in People, One Beat, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Riot Act, () and Murray Street are all great. (and Interpol might be growing on me, I should give it a serious listen soon)
You Forgot it in People particularly is probably my favorite from the aughts.

I was psyched to have a new PJ album and a new Cornell band at the same time. Yeah, wonderful year.

Hard to believe 30 Seconds to Mars had Maynard on that album.

The EL P album from 2002 is awesome, Fantastic Damage. I think Godlovesugly from Atmosphere was from 2002 as well.

McLusky Do Dallas was really good.
