Daisy's comments tell the tale I think.

I reckon the big shocker and us all going 'oh my god' are gonna be in relation to Rey.
She did earlier say she had concerns about the direction the character was headed.

Could she be going dark side?

i think it'd make for a good story seeing Kylo and Ren do the ol' switcheroo but the whole Disney building up a powerful Female lead that girls of the world look up to.......I dont know.

It would be awesome to have her as the villain. Im not sure if disney has the balls to do it.

Yeah, balls because we all know thats what you have to do to make bold choices.

A lot of our faith on Disneys marketing has taken a hit.

Celebration is their big storefront for what's coming.

They didn't release a The Last Jedi trailer.

Can't recall how far out we had force awakens title or trailers but we definitely had a few by the time celebration rolled around last year,
A few months, 6 months out from release

Intriguing Last Jedi theory
Given what we know now about how a red lightsaber is created (the bleeding of the crystal), Kylo Ren would have, in theory, had to do the same thing to get his red cross-saber going.

What if the crystal he used was Luke's, in that he stole Luke's lightsaber and destroyed it to create his own? Perhaps that's why we haven't seen Luke's lightsaber yet, and perhaps that's why Luke is holding Anakin's in his teaser poster.

Thoughts?

Could also explain the heavy red in the posters & marketing.

Very unlikely. It's Disney.

Well the middle act of a trilogy is always the dark one. And it'll inevitably be a cliff hanger.

An inverse of empire where Rey actually goes dark and possibly kills Luke could be great. And fucking shocking.

I don't see any scenario where they kill Luke. Han died. Leia dies. They're not gonna kill the last remaining hero from the original movies and the backbone of the whole shebang.

They'd finished filming before Carrie died though. And luke can always be a force ghost.
He is gonna die in 8 or 9. It's just a matter of how.

Rey is the new hero. The mentor has to die for the hero to step up. All that Joe Campbell stuff.

Don't be dumb.

She's training with luke. She got a lift off han. He wasn't a mentor. He very briefly had a father figure role for her.

Luke is the mentor and teacher now.

I don't know, man. All this talk about the teacher/student stuff not being what people expect. It's entirely possible that isn't a mentor to her at all.

Hell train her. Just based on the set reports and what was shot we can tell that much for sure. His hand might be forced but he will train her.

Maybe it's Obi Wan or Yoda turns up to bend his ear about it and make him do it.

That would be a pretty natural way to have one of both of them appear too
