I'm not saying he won't train her in some way. But that doesn't mean that he's a mentor to her. It doesn't mean that she respects him. Maybe she just needs him. Maybe Luke is just a means to an end for Rey. Maybe not. Who knows? But it's entirely possible. And that's what I love about this. There are so many possibilities. It's exciting! For the first time in a long time, I'm not comfortable predicting what the relationships will be.

She left the Jedi way though. Can't see her ever training anyone. Though she seemingly is still freewheeling around the galaxy at this time until we know otherwise.

I'm betting she dies at Vaders hand next season of Rebels

What makes you think Luke is training her to be a Jedi, though? We hear the dude say the Jedi must end.

Joey is on to it. That is what my response was about to be.

I don't think he will

All signs pointing to him training her in a whole new (or oldest / original way) meaning whatever teachings he's discovered at the temples.

She's training with luke. She got a lift off han. He wasn't a mentor. He very briefly had a father figure role for her.

Luke is the mentor and teacher now.
Which movie in the Other Two Trilogies did the mentor die? The first or second?

Isn't it kind of a stretch to call Han a "mentor" to Rey? They hung out for like 10 minutes, right?

Qui gon-abducts young boy to ruin his life. Gets killed days later
Obi wan -lies to young and makes him leave his home and ultimately ruins his life. Dies days later.
Han-gives a young girl a lift and helps ruin her already shitty life and yes dies days later.

Running theme aside they're each of them shit mentors. Mentor is supposed to help you. Not destroy your life by totally changing it

A bit yeah, but they obviously meant for him to be a lot more than a taxi driver for her. Look at her reaction when he's killed. Look at Leia's response when they get back to base. Leia doesn't even acknowledge Chewbacca is there and he's been with Han longer than anyone. She goes to console Rey. There's a lot more to it.

And, the mentor dies in the first movie of a Star Wars Trilogy.

Both Luke and Rey look like they're holding Anakin's original light saber (the one from A New Hope) in their character posters. Which begs the question... who gets a new light saber in this movie? Surely they both aren't using the same one.

There's one shot in that reel I wish they didn't show. Luke with the green tape for cgi reference on his hand and holding the lightsaber. That's a bit of a big giveaway.

The figures coming out for TLJ luke doesn't have a lightsaber accessory though

Why do you wish they didn't show it? Don't you think that's probably the opening of the movie? Didn't we all expect to see that (or something like it)?

I'm not against you at all. And you're not stupid at all. Just posing a possible answer to you query. It's all just guesswork and conjecture at this point anyway.

Except for Dime. None of us know anything about Star Wars except him.
