When did you get into Steely Dan?

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

Nice. Love all of those.

I based my list on tunes I catch myself humming or singing throughout the day. Dirty Work and My Old School barely missed the cut. The last ones cut, actually.

As great as CBAT is, I have grown to hate Donald Palmer's vocals, and I never listen to the songs he sang anymore. So "Dirty Work" is out of commission at this point.

On the shows I've been trying to get you to listen to, Royce Jones sings the Palmer songs. Much better. Skunk sings My Old School. McDonald sings Show Biz Kids. I love how they really made it a full-on BAND and included all of them like that on the road.

Speaking of, I love Walter Becker's voice and it's criminal that he only sings the lead on one Dan song.

That was another thing about them back then. All of them sang. Except for second drummer, Jeff Porcaro, all of the guys sang. You had layer upon layer of harmony. It's glorious.

So, I'm up to the point they're recording the second album. So far, very interesting. They NEVER wanted to tour. Also, Palmer was only in the band for 4 months.

I think Walter Becker's song on Everything Must Go is the one bad song on the album.

Ok, LV. I know I've been harping on you to listen to these live shows from '74, but I realized something today that may appeal to that side of you that loves a particular song from Katie Lied. There's a really cool instrumental interlude that you may recognize right before Reelin' In The Years. And they also contain the never recorded All Too Mobile Home.
