Of course it is!

Apart from doing more awful covers, what other "chances" would you have had them take?

It just seems like a thoroughly bizarre complaint to have about this particularly unique show.
how about awesome covers?
Maybe they should play an entire set of covers, that's taking a chance.
That would be better than any songs post Riot Act and most of Ten.

Come on guys, warehouse is right.

The least Pearl Jam could have done was all gotten gender reassignment surgery and reemerged as an all-"female" rock band playing an all-covers set of the finest cock rock, therefore upending expectations for literally every single person in the universe. You gotta take these kinds of chances this deep into your career to keep it 100% fresh and different.

For realzies.
And the setlist is wrong because of the delay/cut songs.

it's pretty much all been said in here already. it wasn't a great experience, but it was no one's fault and i thought everyone from the band to the fans to the staff at the field did pretty well with the hand they were given.

as to the setlist, i cannot for the life of me understand how with time winding down life wasted and ritfw get the call rather than betterman and alive, but what i really don't understand were the inclusions of leatherman and setting forth. this was an event show and a midwest show. half the crowd was the same traveling pj20 crowd and the midwest fans who don't travel to the coasts to see them. it was just weird that they played two rare songs that they played just up the road 2 years earlier. in fact, i think those were the only 2 songs that didn't have "please play ____ at wrigley" threads over in the pit.

I feel like we need a poll - the setlist shirt vs. ANAL LOG.

The setlist shirt is an interesting idea, but I hope it's a Wrigley-only thing. I'd rather they have the option of changing the set up and feeling locked into matching the shirt. (Unless they were somehow able to make the shirts to-order on the fly.)

I couldn't hear over the earthcam but was there any announcement saying that the curfew had been extended and public transport would be available after the show? The masses of people leaving left me thinking they were not informed of events.

I can't speak for everyone, but the majority of the people I spoke to, including staff, had no idea what was going for over two hours, it seemed. There were quite a few people who left cause it was 11:00 and they figured the show was going to be cancelled (Wrigley historically being pretty strict about their curfews).

The setlist shirts were definitely the reason they only dropped songs because of time issues instead of rewriting the whole thing and making the first 7 like a pre set. And the songs that don't seem to fit being played instead of some of the more classic songs was them probably trying to make it as special as they could while dealing with the prewittten setlist and the exhaustion of dealing with the heat of the day and the late hour of the night they were trying to play in. But if this was just a show on the tour instead of Wrigley field with all the hoopla that came with it, then they would have rewritten the whole set And included songs like wash to make it feel special based off the circumstances.

So, from looking at the setlist, they look like they intended on playing the whole show, at least up to the first encore. After the encore break, they had to tinker with the setlist. Honestly, I think they did a pretty good job from that point on. Cutting Speed of Sound, Sleight of Hand, Man of the Hour all made sense, even though I would have loved to hear them. Cutting Daughter, Betterman and Alive and going with Life Wasted with full intro was not how I would have done it.

Here is my set, post RVM and encore break -

Future Days
Mother
Chloe/Crown
Porch
Betterman with a singalong tag
Black
Alive

Agree but they would have had to refund or reschedule the show which would have cost them millions. It's not so altruistic :)

It took a while but at a certain point during the rain delay the official Pearl Jam Twitter feed said they still intended on playing a full show.

But hey, who's on Twitter these days?
