Matt looks super into the song in that one clip. Seriously, look at him.

My first thought was this. A song for Ed to get one away.

But just please all pause for a moment to ponder the film that this will eventually be in/on. Some fucking brain dead romantic comedy that will have your mum wanting to buy the soundtrack.

I can excuse the fact that they've collectively wrote respectful songs, but this shit is fucking grim.

I imagine that was Stone and Jeff's immediate reaction. This can't seriously be on the album? Skipping is better than this. My expectations for the new album have dropped massively.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

He refused to play on something so awful. He preferred to lock himself in a small cupboard and stab pins into his eyes.

I wouldn't say its worse than Come Back.
It's not worse than Come Back. At the moment it's not better than Just Breathe and The End but it all depends on what they do in the studio. My guess is they'll butcher it; it's not like they're going to surprise us with the church piano.

I like this song quite a bit more after watching the VideoGremmie version. Still crossing my fingers that they don't ruin it in the studio. Essentially, I don't mind a bit of cheese. I'm still worried about that silly intro / outro swamping the song, but if the organ which runs throughout the song manages to sink into those piano parts seamlessly I guess I won't mind. Live it sounds like O'Brien's just like ooh now it's my bit! plinky plonky plinky.

Here's the lyrics again incase people missed it.

Song is still balls. We need a poll so I can revel in the zero I give it. What are the chances ed realises this sucks sometime between now and October?

stupidmop wrote:If i ever were to lose you
I'd surely lose myself
everything i have dear
ive not found by myself

try and sometimes you'll succeed
to make this man of me
All my stolen missing parts
ive no need for anymore

i believe
and i believe cause i can see
our future days
days of you and me

back when i was feeling broken
i focused on a prayer
you came deep (?) ocean
something i (?)
All the complexities and games
no one wins but somehow they're still played
all the missing crooked hearts
we may die but they still live on

i believe
and i believe cause i can see
our future days
days of you and me

the hurricanes and cyclones rage
the winds (?) into dust
the floods they came and the tides they raised
ever closer became us??

All the promises at sundown
i met them like the rest
demons dancing used to come round
before now they've left

so persistent in my ways
angel i am here to stay
so persistent (??)
please this is just to good to be gone

i believe
and i believe cause i can see
our future days
days of you and me
you and me.

If he didn't notice enough to not play it at Wrigley, he probably won't...

Not sure why I always hear that as 'hold tight the reins', I'm probably getting that from a different song. It's clearly 'Hold on to the thread'. Either way, this song still leaves a lot to be desired. It gives me gooey feelings so maybe it does the job. I just don't want gooey feelings from this album.

I don't know why, cause eds written love songs before, but this one feels too personal to me. We all know he's singing this directly to his wife and that's weird to me, I dunno. Maybe because the lyrics are so trite, all that I was a broken man till you fixed me crap.
