It's not really a big reveal if it was first mentioned 5 minutes before, is it?

This is twice this season they've treated known, common information as a reveal. The first being the obsidian on Dragonstone.

I don't really count this as a reveal. The dragonglass reveal was dumb though.

Seriously. In the throne room when asked what they were gonna do about dragons instead of saying the mad scientist has a plan, they should have just said "Scorpions. We're going to use scorpions. This is a martial, medieval society so we have plenty already."

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I think it was a reference to her telling Ned that being a "lady" wasn't her.

Anyone here remember when Julie Warner walked out of the water in Doc Hollywood? It literally (yup, actually) stopped my breath for a second. Missandei is the most excited about boobs on tv I've been since then. But yeah, fucking travesty how they're handling the dire wolves.

I think this episode definitively answers the question of why Jaqen just let Arya go at the end of last season: he knows she can never really go back to what she had before, and I suspect that maybe the two of them are going to meet up again in the future. Her final scene in the final episode may just be here returning to the House of Black and White to live out her days washing bodies; there's nothing for her in Westeros.

I agree about the scorpion and how it just sort of feels like a wasted reveal. It would've been more effective, I think, for Cersei to have presented it to the gathered lords in the throne room: "The dragons are flesh and blood, just like all of you. And just like all of you, they will kneel before me or be killed." Or some shit like that. I think the biggest offense her was Qyburn coming off as basic, since he's usually so sinister and ahead of the game.

I was very critical of episode 1 (thought it did too much trying to touch every corner of the world), and even though I'm willing to nitpick Episode 2 (stuff mentioned above, the entire Greyworm/Missandei subplot up to and including this episode), I enjoyed it much, much more. Great choice to highlight the divisions in Dany's coalition and to hand them a defeat very early on, excellent battle scene at the end (loved the silence after the battle, great homage to Euron's mythology), pretty good Sam material as well, and as I said, I liked the Arya stuff (after being so distant and cold with Hotpie, I'm actually not surprised how the Nymeria stuff played out). I'm fine with the Hound getting left out, Cersei being minimized, etc., and really focusing on Dany's stuff.

Oh: and imagine what Arya's face will look like when she gets to Winterfell and Jon's not there but fucking Sansa is. I suppose there's a soap-opera-y way this could turn out, with the sisters embracing and feeling sorry for how they treated each other, but that's how Sansa and Jon's reunion started out as well--I suspect Sansa will be wracked by the troubles of ruling before Arya gets there, and they will not get along.
