Funny, when I first saw Snoke, my thought was "oh look, another old guy emporer type"

That's been theorized all over the place, especially since the old EU already did it. I'm sure we've discussed it here before, too. It would be incredibly disappointing.

I mean, if they want to try to get away from the criticism of these new movies mirroring the original trilogy, it would be a huge mistake to have Palpatine alive, right? Ugh, I sure hope it isn't. Dime is right, it is a game changer, because I'd be hugely soured by that move.Simple Torture wrote:That's been theorized all over the place, especially since the old EU already did it. Yeah, it'd be wicked stale. He should just be some dude--I'm hoping his motivation is more than just, "Gotta take over the galaxy," but it doesn't need to be connected to the roots we know in the OT.E.H. Sounds perfectly in line with these movies' pathetic attempt to retcon ROTJ into meaninglessness.

If it is him, it will be as bad as Starkiller Base.

Yes it is. They've already essentially brought back the empire, made Luke not a galactic hero, and if they bring back Palpatine?

At this point it will be far better for us to never know who or what Snoke is because I have zero confidence in Disney making his origin interesting.

If they bring him back, how is it not making RotJ meaningless? Everything Luke did essentially didn't really happen.dimejinky99 wrote:It's not doing that. At all.

This. Bringing the Emperor back (or even Boba Fett) just seems like fan service that is ultimately cheapening the stakes/arc of the original trilogy.E.H. Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017)
And perhaps that's why he's in exile Cos he knows he failed? I just have a hunch it might be palpatine. That is in no way confirmed anywhere. Not fogetting snoke did say he saw the empire rise and fall and the failure of palpatine and Vader especially. So it's probably not him. It just looks like him imo
And bullshit to 'reset han and leia'. You'd be complaining vocally LV if they were still a couple doing the same thing.

The rise, fall, and redemption of Vader is the the driving force of the first two trilogies. Palpatine being alive would rob the payoff of those six movies.

Along with Han overcoming his guarded ways and letting himself love Leia...Monkey_Driven wrote:The rise, fall, and redemption of Vader is the the driving force of the first two trilogies. Palpatine being alive would rob the payoff of those six movies.

I can't betray the guys trust and post the picture. When and if he does I will.
Could be completely wrong but my lasting take was it looks like palpatine.
I hope I never reach such a lifeless level of cynicism as you LV. You're too young to be this cynical. Or maybe not.

How am I the cynical one when Disney are the ones who ripped Han and Leia apart and gave them a demon spawn?!
