I dunno about sloppy but ed is definitely giving mike a look near the end . It's probably a 'where's my damn ebow mccready' look. It's always the ebow.
Mike should be the one giving ed a look, that was one of thee WORST vocal performances ive ever heard, idc if its a new song...and did I hear something about waves and shorelines in there....someone please tell ed to stop trying to be like bruce and go back to his 2000 era vocal delivery....this is embarrassing...I liked MYM but this is just bad..its unthought known recycled.....just let stone write the songs from now on please....
I really hope it's Unthought Known recycled in their own minds as well, so that they can throw that song out of their repertoire and replace it with this.

"Always something never nothing isn't that the way were suppose to dream"
Nice line
Unthought known with a cool chorus and solos!
It's really not a cool chorus.

aside from the ending where he strains a bit, i thought eddie sounds really good here. he's not ever going to sing like it's 2000 again.. for near-50, i think he does a nice job with this one.
I don't mind yeah yeah yeahs when the basic song is finished. At least they're not a crucial part of the lyrics.

Didn't they play them both at wrigley though? I can't remember

Back to back? That would've been cool. They could cut UK half way through and sing "Something Left" and go straight into the next song.

I still can't believe that the name of the record is Lightning Bolt and there's a song called Lightning Bolt and that the chorus is Lightning Bolt and that little Lightning Bolts go off in the background while the song is played live.

Its pretty on the nose. PJ from 1996-2003 with lyrics that have subtle and double meanings, this ain't.

We can only hope that there's some other really powerful imagery to balance out all those lightning bolts. I'm counting on the sirens.

This is my positive end of the new album spectrum:
PHATJ wrote:So far we have MYM which is far better then any rocker on Backspacer, and now Lightening Bolt which in my opinion is way way better than any anthem on Backspacer. That is showing big signs of improvement. And I approve of that.
And this is my negative end of the spectrum:

Let's hope the rest of the album tilts in the positive direction. Otherwise it could be high cheese factor.
Pretty amazing that a song like MYM could sit a few slots away from a song like Future Days. Those two songs represent such different directions - put me in the MYM camp and let's hope for more of that.

Camp MYM, where your gay kids go to be reformed.
