That was very impressive. You've heard that before. But here you learn the rewards of hard work and perseverance, never, ever give up. Never quit. Persevere. Never, ever quit. You learn the satisfaction of building a roaring campfire, reaching a mountain summit or earning a merit badge after mastering a certain skill. There's no better feeling than an achievement that you've earned with your own sweat, tears, resolve, hard work. There's nothing like it. Do you agree with that?
Was that only a thing in my troop?

I wouldn't have had it any other way. We weren't coddled by pansy ass scout masters who were no different than the den mothers of our younger days.Simple Torture wrote:All troops with single-digit numbers were weird. I've never met a scout that needed to memorize and recite a reminder that he was hungry.Simple Torture wrote:Yes.cutuphalfdead wrote:Don't forget the 13th point. I was gonna call you guys assholes for posting about the scouts in this thread, but realized it's probably the best place for it. Please forgive me and carry on.

It's not just the administration, either, but also the legislators who feel they have some cover and support to do the unthinkable. The health care vote...not the bill itself (is there one?), but the manipulations being used to hide and contort it...is the loudest example. But going after the budget office, for example, should be a huge red flag to anybody.

Trump is an outlier when it comes to this. Most of these moves have been universally unpopular and we have to see any sort of voter retaliation. The optimist in me says it is coming.malice wrote:thisMcParadigm wrote:They're toeing the line right now on creating a legal precedent that would resonate indefinitely. Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
I'm in mid-Mo, in one of the five counties in this state to blue in the last election. It's not a surprise that Trump is popular in many areas of St. Louis. Up until a few years ago with the Ferguson stuff it was one of the most low-key racist cities in the US. Lots of Catholic, conservative whites all over the area.tragabigzanda wrote:Monkey_Driven wrote:I can't remember, are you in STL proper? I wonder how many times he's made various aides and chiefs agree with this.

For the record: https://www.rand.org/news/press/2016/06/30.html
Impact of Transgender Personnel on Readiness and Health Care Costs in the U.S. Military Likely to Be Small
If the U.S. military decides to let transgender people serve openly, the number would likely be a small fraction of the total force and have minimal impact on readiness and health care costs, according to a new RAND Corporation study.

Early reporting is that the Pentagon was caught off guard by this, & was not informed (or involved).

Thing you don't need to be told, but Donald Trump does: the president hired and fires the FBI director, not the AG.
