So I used audacity to try and get the audio from this song from the youtube video but it doesn't sound great. Does anyone have a good rip of this or want to take a stab at it? I'll put them on the gmail account with the other stuff that's there.

*NM I think I figured this out. I'll put it up on gmail shortly.

My initial disapoinment about this song came from the fact that i stupidly decided that since this was the title track, it was gonna be some epic song with guitars that sounded like lightning crashes and drums like rolling thunder and other cool shit, and we'd be all

But that was my own fault.

There's probably going to be a massive lightning crash superimposed on the intro, post-production. You might get your wish.

It all depends how you do it and how good the song is. Love Reign O'er Me does the "storm affects" and no one bats an eye. Not to mention it has a pretty dumb reign/rain pun throughout and no one gives a shit cuz the song kicks ass and the production is tasteful.

I give a shit. I'm not a Who fan because they have too much of this cheesy stuff going on. But yeah, a lot of people don't seem to mind.

I keep wanting to sing "I got my first real six string..." to the intro.

I think Lightning Bolt is one step away from Backspacer in the direction of Yield.

...using an early version of Apple maps.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

It's still growing on me. Whether or not it's because I want it to doesn't bother me at the moment. There's enough there to at least make me want to hear a studio version. I still need to find out about the overall approach to production. MYM seems to suggest that it won't be entirely Backspacerish.

The screeching from Ed is pretty bad though. I hope that's better on the album.

Whether or not this sounds like Yield or Backspacer will depend entirely on production, imo. Unthought Known could've been a Yield song, so could ATW. But they sounded like pop songs because of arrangement, instrumentation and production.
