Discover Captain Phasma's mysterious history in this "Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi" novel.

One of the most cunning and merciless officers of the First Order, Captain Phasma commands the favor of her superiors, the respect of her peers, and the terror of her enemies. But for all her renown, Phasma remains as virtually unknown as the impassive expression on her gleaming chrome helmet. Now, an adversary is bent on unearthing her mysterious origins—and exposing a secret she guards as zealously and ruthlessly as she serves her masters.[2]

I'd rather see it in the movie.

I'd rather see her redeem herself in the movie. You shouldn't need a novel to understand a character's motivations or actions.

Look, are we gonna find out how Phasma escaped the trash compactor or not? That's all I care about.

That book sounds awful. That's some serious try hard rhetoric. Probably because everyone views her as disposable in the films.

It was said by Christie I think that we never saw her actually put in the compactor. It's more likely Chewie just knocked her out and they tied her up or locked her in a cupboard or something.

Doesn't she have a comic this is explained it? I'm not following them at all.

Also I don't want precious screen time given to a wide story like that. She's not even a B character. Why waste it on her? Be like showing a Hux plot line. Stick to the meat of the story no?

You can establish a character's motivations pretty quickly if you want to. She's not that much of a minor character if you look at all the promotional material featuring her. Hux is a cartoon villian.

I can't keep up with all this scattershot thinking in this thread. I'll just say that I really hope they expand Phasma's role in TLJ. There are the makings of a really interesting character there and I'd love to see that character more fully explored.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Phasma is the Boba Fett of the new trilogy. Cool looking but completely pointless.

So far, I agree. But that's why I hope they can expand her character a bit, so that she doesn't remain the Boba Fett of the new trilogy forever. There is still time to fix it.
