The last part of the song is really nice, i like what Mike is doing with the E bow a lot.

The screeching from Ed is pretty bad though. I hope that's better on the album.

Just listen to his screech at the end of MYM compared to the studio version and know that it should be much better on the album.

I think Lightning Bolt is one step away from Backspacer in the direction of Yield.

Whether or not this sounds like Yield or Backspacer will depend entirely on production, imo. Unthought Known could've been a Yield song, so could ATW. But they sounded like pop songs because of arrangement, instrumentation and production.

I liked the production on BS, but the guitars in ATW sound so weak...i hope they change that in LB. Still, they have never sounded the same in the albums so...

If this one has to have any Backspacer shine on it, I hope that it's undercut with some more depth and layering. MYM was so I can't help looking forward to seeing whether we have any nuances. I'm not expecting anything on the level of Riot Act, but something close to Yield or Binaural would be nice, even Versus (not in terms of its aggression but its kind of live-yet-cleanness).

From Vs to Yield...and he mixed Binaural...and all of them sound really different. My old buddies used to hate how much different the band sounded those years, like a different band all the time.
And with BS they went for a different route. So, im guessing this new album could sound different too.

Heard MYM on the radio yesterday and it sounded way better than my flac rip. the guitars sounded way louder and more raw. I found it very odd how much of a difference there was.
