the only good thing i can say about the weather is that the heat and humidity may've kept eddie's drinking at bay, resulting in a tight performance. things could've gotten ugly backstage sitting around.

this show will be memorable, and in a good way, though the weather factors and how it affected the scene in general played an important role in preventing it from being what it could have been. as others have mentioned, the band put up as good an effort as they could, but the energy level was just never able to rise to the level everyone was capable of. had the weather not been an issue, i think we're talking "epic" show, but the long delay really did kill any chance of this show reaching or sustaining significant highs. and that's too bad. you could definitely see eddie wanted this to be much more than what it was, and i feel for him. but he shouldn't be too disappointed- i think we'll all feel lucky to have been there.
You hit the nail on the head here. I couldn't agree more. It was a great show but not epic. If Mother Nature hand't interfered it would have been epic. It was still solid, but the energy (for me personally and the crowd as a whole) just wasn't there after the long break. It was my 10th show and probably the 3rd best of been to.

Thank you Ten Club for great seats (first row center-right behind the GA). Great people around us.

I think the band, venue, and city did the best they could do considering the unusual circumstances. In the end you're not going to make all 50,000 people happy about was happened. They could have played the original set as planned with no curfew to 3 in the morning and given full refunds and free merchandise and there would still be some clowns complaining. It was a crappy situation that turned out as good as could be expected.

The only thing I questioned is why they waited until 8:15 to come out. I wonder if they saw the storm coming and thought it would hit sooner and then just start later then realized it wasn't coming as quick as expected. Otherwise why don't you come out sooner? They could have gotten close the whole set in if they had started on time or shortly (15 minutes at most) thereafter. Also, I understand the setlist shirt thing and trying to maintain it but who really cares? In the end the shirt doesn't match what was played anyway. Unless they thought they wouldn't be cut off at 2AM? why don't you modify that setlist. Starting with All the Way after the break was horrible. That's not the way to get the crowd back into it (Maybe Ernie had to leave to go to bed). Also, I'm all for rarities, but "Bugs" really? When you end up dropping some of what they dropped and you keep that in the set. I don't get it. Just my thoughts though, still glad I dropped the coin to be there. I just wish Mother Nature hadn't made this show one of their most memorable for the wrong reasons instead of the epic set and show it could have been.

Good read. And a really nice view of what a PJ concert feels like outside the forums of the internet.
I remember having the same feeling in PJ20. Good memories...

It's good to read all these reviews from people that attended. I think it was pretty admirable the band stuck out the bad weather and put out some kind of show when they could have reasonably be expected to cancel and reschedule.

Everyone was tired and frustrated just the same.
Perfectly put. My sentiments exactly.

as I said before... if they cut Bugs to play Betterman for the 840 time... the bitching on here would have been 1109109 to the 9th degree worse

the Tribune had up an article and it sounds like there really wasnt that many complaints from the neighbors even? thats shocking all things considered
the garage we left our car in (it was a literally mechanic's garage not a parking garage) he said "see ya back a hour after the concerts done, round 11 to midnight" I jokingly said "hey they might play all night (no pun intended)" when we showed back up at 2am... Lee looked like one tired mechanic (yes i gave him a good tip)

No word on an official bootleg at all, right? I'd like to avoid recordings of the new songs unless they're high quality (tried the Youtube videos, decided to wait for something better). Considering we still don't have PJ20, they'll probably save this for a special holiday release, at the absolute earliest?

I feel this will be an Instant Classic and rushed out sometime late Aug/early Sept.

Even with the new songs on it? I could see London with just MYM, but I don't have high hopes for Wrigley.

I haven't heard much from either show, I'm just thinking from a purely marketing and money grabbing POV. Keep the Pearl Jams top of mind for this 3 month lead up.
