It's the Skywalker saga, the grand Star Wars story. if Rey is just some random girl, and Snoke is some nobody that seized power, that would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. The Star Wars movies should be more than just action movies in space.

There are already three Skywalkers (well two technically not named that, but you know what I mean) in this trilogy.Anders wrote:It's the Skywalker saga, the grand Star Wars story. if Rey is just some random girl, and Snoke is some nobody that seized power, that would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. I'm all for these movies expanding their scope and focusing on characters outside of the Skywalker family.

Same. Especially given my statement above.jwfocker wrote:I'm all for these movies expanding their scope and focusing on characters outside of the Skywalker family.

Yeah I mean there's only so much you can do with such a narrow focus. It's very difficult to not write yourself into a corner at this point.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017)
If you are thinking of Kylo (Ben) and Luke that is not exactly overkill in the Skywalker saga. Of course it all depends on how they build on it, what they do with the characters. I am not convinced so far. TFA was terribly light on background.Monkey_Driven wrote:There are already three Skywalkers (well two technically not named that, but you know what I mean) in this trilogy.Anders wrote:It's the Skywalker saga, the grand Star Wars story. if Rey is just some random girl, and Snoke is some nobody that seized power, that would make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Re: Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017)
There is no way Snoke is Anakin. Zero.
Is it possible he's "someone we know"? Sure, I guess. But not Anakin. It's far more interesting to me if he's a new character. But making him Anakin in any fashion is jumping the shark to an extreme that I've never imagined possible.
Imma let Rian tell his story. But I just can't imagine any way that Anakin = Snoke makes any kind of goddamn sense given what we know about those two characters so far. It's completely bonkers, bananas, bullshit fan-fiction at best.
Rey on the other hand... there are a million satisfying ways to tie Rey back into the Skywalkers. I'd be okay with almost any of them that I've read so far. Her being reincarnated Anakin is the least interesting and most absurd. It's the one I like the least. But there's maybe a way to make that work that could end being satisfying.
If she's got to be related to someone, I really hope it's Obi-Wan and not Luke. But if she ends up being Luke's daughter, so be it. It's obvious and predictable but not a deal breaker necessarily.

Same thoughts here. If she is a Skywalker my reaction will depend heavily on how it is revealed and how it moves the story forward. If not done well it will just be a lazy story choice.durdencommatyler wrote:There is no way Snoke is Anakin. Zero.

She's Luke's daughter that he created using the Force, much like Anakin was created from the Force.
The Skywalker's are asexual reproducers.

If she's Luke's daughter, I hope they don't write off who her mother is as just some "lost love from a long time ago" and she is just some meaningless person that we never see/meet.

Honestly? I wouldn't hate that. There's a way to make that a pretty cool reveal and an appropriate way to move the story forward.bune wrote:She's Luke's daughter that he created using the Force, much like Anakin was created from the Force.

I know you're joking. But I want this to be true so badly. It won't be. But god I want it.Monkey_Driven wrote:Her mom is Ahsoka.E.H.
