If midichlorians are simply a substance found in blood, then you could take the blood and seperate everything else out, then make anyone you wanted strong in the Force by simply injecting them with it. Like a virus or something.
Some of the peripheral material has implied that the value/importance of midichlorians was a pet project of Qui-Gon's. That he believed in the pseudo-science of midichlorians but none of the other Force Masters did. I kind of like that take. I also like the idea that midichlorians are a "dark side" thing. Darth Plagueis is able to manipulate the Force in an unnatural way by exploiting midichlorians or implanting them or whatever. That's a cool fucking idea and maintains all the things we love about the Force as a mystical property.
You don't think quantifying it like that make it less mystical?
I do kinda dig on that whole Qui-Gon take, tho.

Exactly. And that's an interesting debate, to be sure. I personally like the idea that there is no correct answer to the prophecy and that it's all about "a certain point of view."

I do think quantifying it makes it less mystical. But that's why I like the Qui-Gon take. It maintains the mystery/mysticism of the whole thing and gives perspective into Qui-Gon's character.

Her mom is Ahsoka.
I know you're joking. But I want this to be true so badly. It won't be. But god I want it.
I would like that more than her being some God-like Force baby.
The idea of making Ray "of the Force" is only interesting in that it's an opportunity to "un-do" or "re-do" some of the nonsense in the Prequels. If handled correctly it could really retcon some dumb shit and make it interesting again, I think. So, I'm not opposed to the idea on its face. It's not probably my preference, but I do think there is a way to make it work and make it really interesting.
I'm opposed to on its face, ass, cock, titties, twat and anywhere else you want to name. It was stupid with Anakin and it would be stupid here.
I hated it at first, too. But once Palpatine explains it to Anakin in Revenge, I started to really come around on it. There is some fun stuff to mine in that arena. Could be really cool to see what competent writers could do with that kind of plot point.
That's the problem. Shmi didn't have anybody come on it.
Seriously, who gave out wease's password?
Ahh. I just really don't like the whole Anakin-as-Jesus angle.
Nobody ever said anything about Jesus, though. What about Anakin Skywalker reminds you of Jesus Christ in the slightest?
Virgin birth I can grant you. But Supremely powerful? Where are there any parallels outside of the virgin birth? And again the Virgin birth isn't divine with Anakin like it is with Jesus. It's really not comparable at all.
The Jedi say Anakin has the highest midichlorian count ever. That's pretty supremely all-powerful.
Also, he fulfills the prophecy of the Chosen One just as Jesus did as the Messiah.
But did you see how all of that played out? How does anything else in Anakin's arc mirror that of Jesus? He clearly isn't all powerful. Look at what Palpatine is able to do to him. He isn't supreme. And he isn't all powerful. In fact, he proves to be the opposite time and time again. His midichlorian count is irrelevant. Which is why I think it's cool to think that Qui-Gon is off the rails with this pseudo-science stuff.
The Jedi were wrong. Obi-Wan admits in Rebels that he believes Luke is the chosen one, not Anakin. No Messiah parallel.
I should've added that according to Qui-Gon, he fulfills the prophecy.
And you're right. The storylines don't really parallel ( depending upon your Christian point-of-view, I guess) other than the virgin birth and claim of Chosen One/ Messiah.

Most interesting part of the new trilogy. I hope they respect that part of SW, no matter in which direction they eventually take it.

See, I can get into that. But what is presented in the movie doesn't read that way at all.

They will. They're already supporting this in other media.

Sounds good. Hope you are right.
Looking back at it after the movie, I wonder if we will get new insight into why Mark Hamill has reacted so strongly.

I just posted a very likely account a few pages back and it was balked at. It made perfect sense for Lukes story and his relationship with Rey and kylo. He will go through all this and sacrifice himself in 9

Except then he had kids. Where's the balance?
No sith, no jedi. No empire, no jedi order. But at least that is something for eps 7-9 to answer about. Luke and Leia both.
Balance has also been described by Lucas as getting rid of the sith, but is that balance?

Yeah, the Empire has nothing to do with the prophecy and/or balance of the Force.

The emperor was the main sith.
The Emperor was a Sith, yes. That's correct. But the Empire had nothing to do with the prophecy and balance and all of that.

That's possibly not true. The sith had the prophesy too I read somewhere. And it may have actually refered to them. Yoda confirms as much saying the Jedi (in their complacency) may have misread it not having had been threatened or even sniffed a whisp of sith activity in a thousand years.
