Okay. here is option B:

Best of Grunge (big 6) 1991-1996

Pearl Jam: Ten, Vs, Vitalogy, Merkin Ball, No Code (does not include master slave, bugs, or pry to)
Nirvana: Nevermind, In Utero (does not include endless nameless)
Alice In Chains: Dirt, Sap, Jar of Flies, Alice in Chains (does not include Iron Gland and the hidden Sap song)
Soundgarden: Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, Down on the Upside
Smashing Pumpkins: Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie..
STP: Core, Purple, Tiny Music (does not include No Memory, Wet My Bed, 12 gracious melodies, Press Play)

Plus 24 songs to be selected from the following qualifying tournament:

Insecticide
Peices Iscariot
Aeroplane Flies High
Temple of the Dog
Mad Season
Facelift
Bleach

and the following B-sides/compilation releases

Yellow Ledbetter
State of Love and Trust
Breath
What the Hell Have I
Crazy Mary
Birth Ritual
I Hate Myself and Want to Die
Glynis
Show Me
Verse Chorus Verse
Drown
Seasons
Foosteps
Wash
Dirty Frank
Leaving Here
Kyle Petty
Alone
Even in his youth
A Little Bitter
Dancing days

This leaves us with 124 songs. Ideally we'll have 4 more to include. If people can identify b-sides or soundtrack/comp songs I missed from these artists, or feel that there are particularly significant songs I excluded that'll get us to 128, which is a clean tournament. I couldn't make room for Louder than Love, although we could slice off 8 of the b-sides and make it work.

Thoughts?

I know this has been discussed, but No Memory and Endless Nameless should definitely be included. Especially the latter, which is a killer song.

Slight change, I need to reduce the number of songs from the first tournament down from 24 to 16. Which means

Best of Grunge (big 6) 1991-1996

Pearl Jam: Ten, Vs, Vitalogy, Merkin Ball, No Code (does not include stupid mop or pry to)
Nirvana: Nevermind, In Utero
Alice In Chains: Dirt, Sap, Jar of Flies, Alice in Chains (does not include Iron Gland)
Soundgarden: Badmotorfinger, Superunknown, Down on the Upside
Smashing Pumpkins: Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie..
STP: Core, Purple, Tiny Music

Plus 16 songs to be selected from the following qualifying tournament:

Insecticide
Peices Iscariot
Aeroplane Flies High
Temple of the Dog
Mad Season
Facelift
Bleach

and the following B-sides/compilation releases

Yellow Ledbetter
State of Love and Trust
Breath
What the Hell Have I
Crazy Mary
Birth Ritual
I Hate Myself and Want to Die
Glynis
Show Me
Verse Chorus Verse
Drown
Seasons
Foosteps
Wash
Dirty Frank
Leaving Here
Kyle Petty
Alone
Even in his youth
A Little Bitter
Dancing days
Stupid Mop
Pry To
Iron Gland
Chole Dancer/Crown of Thorns

I added the three missing tracks from the formal albums, plus Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns (because Singles)

that should work. If there are important tracks I missed, or if people really feel like Iron Gland, Stupid Mop, or Pry To should lose in the main tournament suggest a song to replace them with.

Just dropping the word "grunge" from the title of this tournament would really help with things. Has...that been suggested yet?
