I'm trying to think of another song from another band I can say the same thing about, but I'm coming up with nothing.
Are the other 3 Even Flow, Alive, and Black? If so yeah, I agree that's interesting.

Im sure a lot of people know Even Flow most because it was in Guitar Hero 3 in 2007 when Guitar Hero was at its peak. That was the first time I ever heard Pearl Jam

Even Flow and Alive were the two I heard most on the radio on the classic rock stations, and Alive was in Rock Band 2

I won't be Classic B'd because you can't choose appropriate threads.

It's not about the song though. its about the life and death of the actor that played in the video!

tragabigzanda wrote:Bump. Two interesting bits from this article:

1. Ed is worth an estimated $90M

2. Apparently the video referenced some gender identity confusion? Which I never grasped as a kid (haven't watched the entire vid in years). Odd that his friends would push back on that idea today. And this is 100% circumstantial/not at all valid, but the kid does sort of look like a girl in his yearbook photo.

Mother of teen whose classroom suicide inspired the Pearl Jam song 'Jeremy' speaks out 27 years later as the friends who witnessed it say they were angry at the band for its 'inaccurate' portrayal of his death
It's not gender identity. IIRC, he's reaching out to a dress and a suit, signifying his mom and dad.

Obviously feel bad for all involved here but it's not like Pearl Jam was making a documentary about the kid. It's just a song inspired by the event.

I wonder whether Ed was trying to kind of cop the vibe of Fugazi's Sweet and Low when he came up with the '95 alt version of Jeremy.

I'm with you here, Clem. This version has everything. It's like a caged animal. It's fucking brilliant.
