I think it was meant to show the disassociation that happens from seeing all of time ala Dr. Manhattan, not necessarily that he's a weirdo. At least in a worse way than that already suggests.

Also, it's something from her experience. She can trust what he's saying. If he dropped any of that other stuff, she'd have every reason to doubt what he was talking about. We can't look at that scene from our all-knowing, audience perspective.

That was my read too. It was super creepy and not polite, but she now knows he's the real deal.

Varys is the spy within Dany's camp. GOT has never shied away from heavy foreshadowing and how else did Euron know exactly when to attack? The Casterly Rock ambush is also highly suspect. The biggest clue was Tyrion not knowing about Jon Snow being KOTN. Hot Pie knew, but not Varys? It was clever how they placed the scene of her questioning him. I was initially under the impression that they were trying to emphasize her parallels to her Father. It was also bizarre that he & Dany hadn't interacted until Dragonstone. Varys wasn't exactly happy to have to leave KL either. Season 5 is the hardest one for me to re-watch (Thanks Ramsey, High Sept and Sons Of The Harpy!!) , but I've been picking up on more of the subtleties going back through it.

I have no idea what Vary's endgame actually is. But I love him to pieces. If he's a traitor to Dany, I'll need a damn good reason for it. However, having said that, I don't think he should be trusted. And it would make a lot of sense for him to be "the spy in Dany's camp."

I think he's trustworthy. Stand him beside little finger and he's an angel I reckon. They seem like the same character in a way but I don't think so at all. Little finger is far more malicious malignant and dangerous. He needs to go. Horribly.

I'm torn about it. I love Varys and really hope they aren't going the spy route with him, but I can't think of anyone else that would betray Dany.
