You can't just celebrate the wonder that is Stone can you? Unless it's a picture of Ed Lion/"The Lion Sing", I want no mention of Ed in the Bossman's thread.cutuphalfdead wrote:I'm so glad Eddie Vedder didn't get his breathy voice on this thing.evenslow wrote:I can't think of many other active musicians that could pull off Both Live without it somehow turning into a debacle.

You're absolutely right. I'm on record preferring the Bossman's voice at this point anyway. I won't mention that other douche again.evenslow wrote:You can't just celebrate the wonder that is Stone can you? why can't every record sound this good? the production fits the record's measured ambition: it's rich and layered and there's real dimension in the soundscape. no overreaching, no compression, no preciousness.

the first solo on i need something different is so unexpected and vibrant. the tones of the rhythm and lead guitars are really well-balanced.

stone's woozy delivery in the verses is perfect. a great match for the jangly instrumentation underneath. lots going on here.

also, that's how you write a bridge: unexpected instrumentation and harmonies. pentatonic wankery would have crushed what those first few verses and choruses built.

god, great such great space and restraint in moonlander. moody, textured, and dense without being unnecessarily spartan or self-consciously somber. very well done track.

I'm still listening to this album quite frequently. A bit disappointed he left "Little One" off it though. Really good song.

the beginning of your flames just sounds so overly affected. not a fan of stone's delivery here. not really feeling the cadence of the melody either.

"a bouquet of colored lies (lines?), not one was grey" is a pretty good lyric
