Yeah it's like when that one guy said they couldn't fight, Tyrion should have been like "you have a dragon, you idiot!"

I'm not rooting for either "side", they are clearly differing degrees of awfulness, but the show does a good job of humanizing the individuals involved. You care about the people like Jaime or Tyrion, but when you look at it from a wider scale, it's really just petty tyrants lusting for power. I've seen nothing to indicate Dany is there as a liberator. She's there to take what is "hers". Sure, she says and probably believes she will be a good ruler once she's in power, but most tyrants probably do, and they think the ends justify the means. Contrast that with the Starks, who will go to the wall for their principles.

I think this is the point.

From a purely storytelling standpoint, the world has taught Dany all the wrong lessons. People act as if she's changed in a good way, to become the ruler Westeros deserves, but that's not true at all. When she does something good, she's punished. When she's violent, she is rewarded. The world has made her one of them. I don't think the creators intend for this to be a good thing, unless they are incredibly cynical. In order for her to become a hero, she is going to have to change at some point. Maybe the white walkers coming over the wall will change her, but I dunno. Running out of time.

She is clearly lusting for power as shown by her actions in the last episode. She had no desire to listen to Tyrion at that point and went behind his back/against his best advice and waged war on the lannisters. With her dragons. The entire scene of them discussing that if she used the dragons then she would be seen as nothing more than same. I felt it was pretty obvious that what once may have been good intentions, have slowly dissolved away and now has turned to lust for power.

If she used the dragons against a densely populated city... was the context. She attacked the army that attacked her ally, which is the only way to keep allies, she that their sacrifice means something.

Anyway, great episode. With that type of epic battle, it is hard to believe that was a middle of the season episode.

one of the things I love about this show is that most of the bad ass warriors don't look like bad ass warriors
