Re: Star Wars live action series
I think HBO is fantastic. They have done fantasy, western, mafia, detectives, funeral home, and many other types of shows. But never a space sci-fi show. Nothing like Star Wars, Trek, BSG, B5, Firefly etc. However with Disney in charge of SW, I can't see Star Wars being it for HBO.

Disney can do what it does well in a new channel directed and dedicated to its newer properties to match Netflix and HBO and not threaten them either. separate markets and demos.

Re: Star Wars live action series
I'm out on a limb and just guessing (and Jason from masking Star Wars liked my tweet so who knows what he knows)
But even a single series with Ewan like in Fargo about one story arc? Main character obi wan?
I just finished the kenobi book on audio and it was brilliant. He's not just sitting there in the desert.
Trouble (and romance!) comes to find him no matter what he does.
This series could be amazing.

A Star Wars anthology series would be amazing. That's exactly what needs to happen.

Re: Star Wars live action series
There simply isn't enough content for them to set up a Star Wars channel.
It's being theorised that perhaps they clincher will be they are going to be offering the saga films in 4K and that's the only place it's going to be available.
I think that's really niche but they could make it work.
But it's all but inevitable that some sort of series or more than one, is in the works.
There's a lot more quality TV going on these days then there are movies. It's a gold mine and they want to corner that part of the market I bet.

Fargo is incredible. People LOVE American Horror Story. I loved Are You Afraid of the Dark?. Twilight Zone is the gold standard. And then there's Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits, Tales From the Crypt.Anders wrote:Has there ever been a good anthology series?
There are plenty of great anthology shows. A lot in the horror/sci-fi realm. Which bodes well for a Star Wars anthology.

It doesn't seem like it'll be a Star Wars channel, though. It'll be a Disney Chanel. A Disney Streaming Platform of which Star Wars will obviously be a part.dimejinky99 wrote:There simply isn't enough content for them to set up a Star Wars channel.

Re: Star Wars live action series
I can't stand horror movies or series, so that may be why I feel the way I do about anthology shows. I think Fargo and True Detective are good, although both suffer a bit from ths format they have chosen as well.durdencommatyler wrote:Fargo is incredible. People LOVE American Horror Story. That's what I thought as well. All the cartoons, series and movies that Disney are behind.durdencommatyler wrote:It doesn't seem like it'll be a Star Wars channel, though. It'll be a Disney Chanel. Re: Star Wars live action series
I'm not a big horror guy in general either. But Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone are outstanding. Two of the best TV shows I've ever seen. TTZ especially.Anders wrote:I can't stand horror movies or series, so that may be why I feel the way I do about anthology shows. Re: Star Wars live action series
Yeah of course but it'll be broken down into subsections. Your classic Disney films here. Marvel here. Star Wars there.
They won't be mixed up altogether on the same menu like

Re: Star Wars live action series
They might be. That would makes sense. But then your "not enough content" comment doesn't apply.
