Moonlander - Stone Gossard

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

Still need to get this. I enjoyed most of it during the unveiling. I agree the production is beautiful .
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

okay stone's voice is starting to grate, which is unfortunate because i really like battle cry's rhythm and instrumentation

it seems as if he slowed the album cut down too much. the original version is much better...

Thats not the original version. he released the original version (from the studio) via mp3 a few years ago as well...

Im pretty certain its the same cut...

it all comes together really beautifully after that second verse. lovely background harmonies. the attenuated bridge is interesting, really rewards multiple listens. the way that lone riff enables the transition from the bridge to the third verse is excellent.

love battle cry's structure and instrumentation choices.

Heh, guess I missed that one. I've only ever heard the live version prior to this album's version.

album's really settling into a nice pace. jangly and unexpected whimsy to open, expansively textured few numbers in the middle.

WHAT COMES NEXT THOUGH

i enjoy how understated and well-integrated the rhythm section is. really lets the melodies, guitars, synths, etc do the heavy lifting.

i wish stone would explore this whole evocative americana-inspired countrified sound more.

he really knows how to NOT treat a piece of music: the bridge is just lovely, he just lets everyone in the band do what they do. no more, no less.

who would have thought these choruses were coming? so huge and sweeping in relation to the song's verses, particularly the "I DON'T WANT TO GO TO BED" refrain

again, the rhythm really takes this one right where it needs to go.

i think bombs away's riff might be my favorite on the record, and it works really well with what the lead/electric guitar does in the choruses
