Keto's really not that crazy. It's basically just "no carbs", which is good for rapid weight loss but hard to sustain. I did it for a little while.

This guy was talking about it like it was a lifestyle.

Serious question. When people say that, what else do they mean besides eating habit change? Working out? What else would "change" in their lifestyle? I have family that live the "Paleo lifestyle", and it has always baffled me.

any diet is a lifestyle change, we just are too lazy to maintain a diet once an objective is reached. that's why crash diets don't work. sure you can lose the weight but go back to your original eating habits and you gain it all back.

Yeah, this. The point of my post was to say that the guy acted like he would be eating keto style for the rest of his life.

Vegan, I can see. Something like keto doesn't seem like a "lifestyle" to me. I'm unfamiliar and being judgy about it though.

Ruddo, to answer your question, I think the thing that distinguishes a lifestyle from a diet is a total revamp of the way you think about what you eat and how you live with the intention of sustaining it.

A diet is more of a short term goal to gain some health benefit.

Vegan: lifestyle. Running and the type of eating that comes with it: lifestyle. Keto, Whole 30, Atkins: Diets.

Just a note: being vegan isn't an end-all and be-all, now I'm a saint, everything is great solution to all of life's problems and conflicts and controversies and conundrums. It's one step that a person can take in one aspect of their life, to deal with something that they recognize as a problem. A real problem, but still just one problem.

I'd assume people sending nasty sarahah messages about you vegan diet are basically too puppy-assed to tell you via the internet version of face to face, and ignore them. you do what you feel is right for you and everyone else can eat eggs or something.
