I'm gonna put one of these on my Kindle to take to Jamaica next week. I'm not sure which one (or maybe two). I can't decide between:
Lost Stars
Dark Disciple
Bloodline
Rebel Rising
New Dawn

But I'm gonna do one of those, I think. Leaning a combo of Bloodline and Dark Disciple right now. Love the idea of one Clone Wars era book and one post-RotJ era book.

The first three on your list I would do almost in that order. I'd add perfect weapon once you've finished them. Can't speak to the others.

Fuck that.

Do bloodline first. Definitely do it before TLJ. Rian collaborated with Grey and it relates directly toy to what's going to happen in TLJ.

Well, Joey, it depends on what mood you are in. If you want some Hera and Kanan action, do New Dawn. It is a very quick read but really fun.

That's a good call. Maybe I'll do that one and Bloodline. Then I've got one heavier, meatier one and then a quick, fun, "beach" read, too. And I love Hera.

Listening to the new Leia, Princess of Alderaan audiobook by Claudia Gray. One of the journey to the last Jedi books.

It's doing a great job of connecting events and places and characters from the prequels, Rogue one all the way to the Last Jedi. It's as good so far as Lost Stars but in a different way. About half way through. Worth checking out. I want to stay on top of these books as they relate to TLJ and have them done before it's release.

Thanks to a generous benefactor, I'm five chapters into Leia: Princess of Alderaan. It's the first audiobook I've done and I'm digging it a lot so far.

It's awesome for building her backstory. Keep going. There's loads of nuggets buried in there you might miss in the audio that you would definitely pick up on in the book.

The Leia book was good not great. Some of the dialogue was awful though. But the plotting, tension, and overall character building was solid.

What was the name of the species with which Leia trades favors in Leia, Princess of Alderaan? I can't remember. But at the end of the book they help her out but she remains in their debt. I wonder if we'll see the payoff of that debt in The Last Jedi. Or if that's in some other book/comic.

Can't remember. This is the problem with doing audiobooks. It doesn't stick with you as much as having read it I find.

Today at the NYCC 2017 Lucasfilm Publishing Panel Timothy Zahn announced that he will be following up this years novel Star Wars: Thrawn with a sequel titled Star Wars: Thrawn Alliances featuring Darth Vader! #BlackandBlue

To my knowledge Thrawn and Vader didn't have significant interactions in the Legends stories and we have yet to see them cross paths on Rebels but they have met in the new Star Wars canon (Star Wars: Thrawn). I’m very excited for Timothy Zahn to continue the story of Thrawn and explore the dynamic of an Empire with Thrawn, Vader, Tarkin, and Krennic all vying for the Emperor's favour. Expect the new book to hit shelves in summer of 2018!

We are going to see Thrawn next in the final season of Star Wars: Rebels kicking off on October 16th and in the six-issue comicbook adaptation of Star Wars: Thrawn coming this February.

In the old stuff, Vader was already dead when Thrawn made himself known. IIRC, the Emperor hid him even from Vader.
