The letter reads:
"Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark."

Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
"There was a letter," Robb said, scratching his direwolf under the jaw. "One for you as well, but it came to Winterfell with mine." He went to the table, rummaged among some maps and papers, and returned with a crumpled parchment. "This is the one she wrote me, I never thought to bring yours."
Something in Robb's tone troubled her. She smoothed out the paper and read. Concern gave way to disbelief, then to anger, and lastly to fear. "This is Cersei's letter, not your sister's," she said when she was done. "The real message is in what Sansa does not say. All this about how kindly and gently the Lannisters are treating her … I know the sound of a threat, even whispered. They have Sansa hostage, and they mean to keep her."
"There's no mention of Arya," Robb pointed out, miserable.

Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
This is what I want to know...same shit happened with Boardwalk Empire. Both series still at the top of their game (okay debatable), but these seem to be rushing to a conclusion. Just trying to figure out why. I mean the show is a ratings giant, why not finish with two whole seasons when there's still plenty of story and character evolution. (or so it seems) to play with. Overall still enjoyed the episode but would definitely agree it felt super rushed. Also, why the hell wouldn't they take Ghost on this quest beyond the Wall? Too little Direwolf action....Monkey_Driven wrote:Why is this just 7 episodes again? A money issue, right? This way they can pay the actors less overall? Lame.

Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Can we talk about how colossally dumb it is to march eight horseless people into the North to try to capture one wight against thousands? For several seasons they have been building up how powerful and unstoppable this zombie horde is, yet Jon is totally on board with ranging north of the wall again. I'm sure it will be quite a spectacle and very thrilling, but there is no logic to it.
Why do they need Cersei again?
Why don't they just fly a dragon or two north of the wall to capture a wight and hightail it out of there?
I'm already mad the Hound is going to die on this suicide mission for no reason.

Also, why didn't anyone else have voice other ideas? Jon should be smarter by now.

If I'm not mistaken, Dany still doesn't fully believe in the white walkers, so that is why she isn't sending a dragon?
re: horseless dudes. A small, tactical force that could sneak in and sneak out quietly while snatching one might make less noise than a shitload of dudes attacking and trying to keep one alive, all while running from the horde.

Yeah I don't get why Cersei needs to be convinced. They should fortify Moat Cailin to fend off any potential attack from the south, and then focus on what's going on with the WW themselves. If Dany needs proof first she can go for a dragon flight north of the wall and see them.

Yup and have a dragon or two patrol the coast for Euron's fleet. It's not like the Ironborn are going to go too far inland anyway.cutuphalfdead wrote:Yeah I don't get why Cersei needs to be convinced. I get the small force if you're sneaking in to grab something from a fixed position, but you're trying to grab a zombie from an army with powerful ice wizard leading the charge. Shit's going to be hard.E.H. Ruddock wrote: Not saying I don't agree with you, just some counter thoughts:

Davos was the clear MVP of this episode. Almost to the point where I'm inspired to re-watch the whole series and award an MVP for every episode.

I also thought the Raven scout team ranging north of the wall was a cool sequence too.

not stronger than gendry's though, right? or do you have to be legitimized to inherit the crown?spike wrote:it means he has the strongest claim to the iron throne, stronger than dany's...Mecca wrote:Probably none at least in terms of him being kingdoone wrote:To what purposecutuphalfdead wrote:well Jon's a legit Targ

when they announced the 2 abbreviated seasons, didn't they also say that while the seasons would be shorter, the episodes would be longer? am i imagining things again?

You're not. The episodes have been longer too. Next season's will be mini-movies from what they've said (80 minutes or so).Chris_H_2 wrote:when they announced the 2 abbreviated seasons, didn't they also say that while the seasons would be shorter, the episodes would be longer? am i imagining things again?
