Tribute to Johnny vs. River of Deceit

Tribute to Johnny is a fun little instrumental that has a bit of a swagger that's not always in the Pumpkin's music. But River of Deceit is just stunning. I hadn't listened to that song in a long time. What a great rediscovery. That song aches in such a sad, beautiful, clean way

I heard River of Deceit only once in the mid 90's and then spent seven years wondering if that was just a song I imagined. All I had to go on in my head was the phrase "down, oh down" and something about pain. I was so fucking happy when I discovered Mad Season organically. A big chunk of musical knowledge came full circle for me.

This is the kind of story that's not possible in the age of Google. River of Deceit gets my vote.

I've had that experience with a few songs. Those were such satisfying mysteries to solve

really? That was your first time?

I'm so happy I came back to this song. It's especially poignant given the terrible wave of suicides with these guys.
