Dunkirk.
Loved it. Its such a small story and the montage is brilliant.

I would say that I liked it but didn't love it. But I do think there are brilliant moments within the film.VinylGuy wrote:Dunkirk.

Yeah, its not his best movie, but im still shocked on how he uses the montage to tell this story.durdencommatyler wrote:I would say that I liked it but didn't love it. But I do think there are brilliant moments within the film.VinylGuy wrote:Dunkirk.

Re: What movies are you watching?
That movie has some of the most incompetent editing I've ever seen.

Re: What movies are you watching?
The idea of the montage is brilliant...the three different timelines, the editing, the score...great. Im sure this story being told in a linear way would be way boring.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Depending on editing to hide how boring and uninteresting the story you're telling is isn't commendable

Well of course if you found the story boring, thats a matter of taste. In that case, yeah the montage is not going to please you.
Wasnt my case, lucky me.

Re: What movies are you watching?
What i meant was that if you dont care about the story, world war 2, what happen in dunkirk for example, there is no way you are going to enjoy it.
I felt the way Nolan tells it, the way he chooses to is brilliant and way better than a linear montage. I was at the edge of my sit because of it.
I also loved the photography.

"Bird Lady's home for C-roll X-men."
Totally falls apart in the second half.

Dunkirk was ok in bits and pieces, but altogether falls flat.

Re: What movies are you watching?
It doesn't help they changed the ending and the two main girls powers for some dumb reason. The book was dumb enough, the movie was worse.Bi_3 wrote:"Bird Lady's home for C-roll X-men."

Seven Noomi Rapaces sounded like fun, but I only got about half-way through "What Happened to Monday."

"The Discovery" aka "rejected Black Mirror episode starring Marshall Erikson"
The Discovery gets its premise right, but refuses to take it far enough to make it interesting, and an ending that feels like it was tacked on months later. Basically a film school remake of Eternal Sunshine with none of what that film a masterpiece.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
