I hate the first minute of lightning bolt but kind of dig the rest of it.

The outro of Present Tense is amazing, the rest of the song sounds like hippy dippy self help mush to me.

I dislike ed's voice on Around the Bend, it might be the most nasal he's ever sounded. But i really love the song.

I hate eds voice on the chorus on Army Reserve, it sounds like he's trying to sing while someone else is trying to strangle him.

I really like the music and chorus on Bushleaguer, so while i don't mind the spoken word tirade against bush i find it unfortunate that it on this song.

For a few years there, my entire fandom of PJ rested on their music and ethos consisting of hippy dippy self help mush. I did not imagine that the straw would ever break the camel's back in that regard.

this is where they started to lose me for a while. I think they do it better now (with some huge caveats), but I tend to think they are at their best as seekers rather than finders.

I think the last thing I watched that made me remember the PJ I knew and loved was that fairly recent Ed solo dvd. Or rather, not in terms of the music but just the whole atmosphere and what it felt like to be a fan.

No. The song is great with both halves. The outro is the best, but it belongs right where it is, following what comes before. Genius song.
