can someone explain why they didn't draw out the series to two more years of full seasons? What was the problem? This series has a huge following, their rating destroy everything else, including porn, apparently, and they must make money hand over fist... why ruin it in the final (2 really 1 and a half) seasons like this?

I don't read the volume of online stuff everyone else does, has there been anything written on it?

Mostly a cost/logistics issue. Although it is hugely popular it is still the most expensive TV show ever produced. The actors keep getting more and more expensive as well.

The Benjen save can easily be explained by Bran sending him there. Benjen has the ability to communicate with ravens. I would like that a lot. Bran has to wield some of his powers.

but that, in addition to virtually everything, was just all too convenient. like being surrounded by 10,000 wights and having the ocean 11 guys fight them all one by one, when we've seen wights smother people by the 10's and 20's in previous episodes.

honestly, for a moment i thought jon snow was dead when he got pulled down into that lake by the wights. i was shocked, and sad, but OK with it. it honestly would have lent some legitimacy to this season. but then . . . against all odds . . .

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Yes, very fun but no more depth than an episode of Entourage.

It honestly felt like a Marvel movie.

As a non-history-buff I'm probably off by a liiiittttle, but just bear with me. Let's say for sake of argument, in earth time, this show is set about 800 years ago. OK? Good.

I think it's pretty cool that the term "ginger" has been around since the 13th century.

I'm rereading them now and there's a ton of good stuff in here (worldbuilding, character moments, etc.). There's just not as much action, more aftermath.

HBO and Martin wanted them to. But the showrunners said no.
