Re: The all inclusive video game thread
So I tested out the new cans on the weekend, and man these are fucking top notch.
I had a few rounds in BF1, and it really added much more to the immersion. I played probably my best few games ever and jumped 3 classes in one night. I think it was in part because there were quite a few times where I could clearly hear footsteps of other players, and also because of the depth of field of the headset that I can hear the direction of sounds more accurately.
GTA V sounded pretty good too. Using the Surround mode with the first person view was kind of cool.
On the PC it was great too. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds sounded really cool, especially when creeping around houses and hearing footsteps or approaching cars. Gunshots and explosions off in the distance sounded brilliant, some of them as quite deep sounding thumps that sounded realistically far away.
My only complaint is that the mic doesn't have a talkback feature (i.e. hear yourself in real time). Not a big gripe, it's just thrown me a little because my old headset did do this.

Re: The all inclusive video game thread
Update to above. Weirdly, the headset is now giving voice talkback on both the PC and PS4. WTF?
Edit: OK, I worked it out. The headset dongle has an EQ button, if I hold this down for 5 seconds it switches the talkback monitor on and off. Nothing in the instructions about that, glad I found it.

Yep, being able to hear footsteps is really important. Especially when you're in-doors and there are guys above or below you.Sgt. Crackpot wrote:So I tested out the new cans on the weekend, and man these are fucking top notch.

I put a tracker app on my phone and slept with it. It went off at 1am and I went into action.

I'm worried that Best Buy pre-order was a mistake.

I think the Best Buy preorder was a mistake. We'll see if they honor them. How did Best Buy and Walmart make the same mistake? Pay attention, idiots.

I'm seeing mentions that Amazon had a pre-order open last night/this morning too in IGN talkbacks...so maybe its real.

Re: The all inclusive video game thread
If this was a Prime only preorder, I might be done with Amazon. They pulled that shit with their exclusive Zelda Amiibo.
