There is a pic online of ed backstage much earlier in the day chugging back red wine.
Could be the wines fault.
That set list is pretty much exactly what I'd expect at a festival show. No harm no foul.

I think where the band also loses the plot is not realizing there are a group of fans who still want to view them as artists and not festival party rockers. So when you don't throw that group a bone by tossing a new song on the setlist a thread like this turns into the General Pearl Jam Bitching thread instead of the the lets talk about what we thought of that new song thread....

So they played a standard festival set at a standard festival and there is a huge emo emotional breakdown in this thread? You were expecting what, exactly? I don't know if the conversation here actually happened before they played, but it very well could have been cut and pasted in directly from any other number of threads on the website.

I'm deeply sorry that i couldnt tweet like I said I would, there wer absolutly no 3g cover up in that place... Well, the concert was sick, maybe the best sao paulo show they ever did... Tomorrow I'll post my thoughs... But now, i need a shower and some sleep...

Given the fact that all this happened without anyone other than KurtLeon actually having heard the music really makes this all about you. Not Pearl Jam. The little psychodrama some of you are casting yourselves in. The plot is already decided The characters are assembled. This thread is acting out the script that was written out in advance. We know how it ends.

I'd be more sympathetic if some of this at least waited until you heard what they sounded like. Maybe it wasn't a good show. But if PJ went out there and played a fantastic show for a festival crowd then they did exactly what they were supposed to do, and did it really well.

These 3 shows were never going to be adventurous or contain too many rarities. They played a festival and delivered a pretty good set that all of us would have enjoyed if we were present. And it's true that they don't have to challenge themselves too much doing these shows. Rehearse for a week and get 35 tracks down, play for 7.5 hrs and collect 1.5mil for the PJ company.

The webcast was disappointing but maybe after 4 years of trying to be popular PJ are once again shying away and heading for the ditch.
