Yeah, Pearl Jam!!!
Disney world uses it as welltragabigzanda wrote:see also airline tickets and ski passesLoathedVermin72 wrote:Dynamic pricing should be illegal, loathe that scummy shit. It's not just Ticketmaster doing it either; I went to the fucking Shedd Aquarium the other day and they were doing it. Absolute bullshit.

Yeah, i wasn't meaning to defend the practice. I don't know what my point was.tragabigzanda wrote:The bold is a fixed, predictable model, and it's at a single location. That's wildly different from a dynamically variable global marketplace controlled by a monopoly corporation (this includes ski resorts due to their network pass programs).B wrote:I hate them as much as the next guy, but places have been changing prices based on demand since forever.
Cheaper prices on the weekday at amusement parks to drive people in.
Shedd's is probably trying to lower attendance on a busy day.
I don't know how to win.
Well, I guess I do, and that's the problem. No one wants to have to play games and strategize just to buy a fucking ticket.
I mean like Disney literally changes their fast pass prices every 15 minutes depending on demand, how many people are in line, how many in the park, weather, etc. it’s impressively nasty.B wrote:I hate them as much as the next guy, but places have been changing prices based on demand since forever.

You've had to have a degree in game theory to enjoy Disney for a decade now.Bi_3 wrote:I mean like Disney literally changes their fast pass prices every 15 minutes depending on demand, how many people are in line, how many in the park, weather, etc. it’s impressively nasty.B wrote:I hate them as much as the next guy, but places have been changing prices based on demand since forever.

yeah, to me the problem isn't so much the hidden fees. hell, i don't even have a problem with the dynamic pricing (that's an artist decision that can easily be eliminated). it's the access to tickets of scalpers. the stupid queue f's everything up which scalpers are able to circumvent.wease wrote:It doesn’t stop the artist scalpi- er, dynamic pricing bullshit that’s still happening.
