Finally a plan by the GOP to replace that ridiculous Obamacare. The nice thing about their plan is it will cut Medicaid funding to the states making sure that the poor will get even less or no insurance and that the tax credits are based on age and income, thus making sure the old and the poor will get even less or no insurance.

It's about fucking time the government realizes the poor and the old don't need insurance.

Old people in red states literally voted to kill themselves. You can't make this shit up.

They only care that 'the others' don't get health care.

I was perusing FOXNews comment sections after the details were released. Out of maybe 40 comments I read, half were thrilled about the name change. Half of the rest were about Obamacare being a disaster. One proposed ditching Obamacare and just keeping the ACA, since that part was good. None appeared to have read any details of the plan, or at least weren't talking about them.

I think it has a lot more to do with the "our side is winning" fixation than anything else. The idea that your team's leader's name is on my healthcare is just too fucking much to accept.

It's interesting how the way Republicans seem to be handling the health care issue may in the long run leave us with what the Democrats wanted in the first place prior to Republican opposition; a public option or even single-payer.

The problem is...

...the rural base likes the government support but hates the libtard name...

...the intellectual braintrust hate any government involvement at all...

...the industry benefactors like government supports for them and theirs.

If the GOP wants to serve all three masters...and I think it's dangerous for them to betray any of the three...Obamacare is the worst possible starting point.

Your mission: create uber-accessible healthcare for your low income base, including cancer survivors, without hurting insurance company bottom lines and while minimizing government cost, interference, or oversight. And any change in any direction from the status quo will be treated as a point for your opponent.

Really though. The health care bill is becoming a war for the soul of the Republican Party. Are they Trump's court? Small government fiscal heroes borrowing a populist? Moral standard-bearers who also protect personal responsibility?

Turns out healthcare reform does what all manner of craziness did not: make them stand up and dig in for their beliefs.

The AARP's statement on this is really something, if they are correct. They estimate that a 65-year old making $25,000 a year will see a $7,000 premium hike.

Yep. They're sticking it up the ass (and not in a pleasurable way) to the very voter base that gave them their power.

I heard one podunk on the radio yesterday saying how terrible Obamacare is, but the Affordable Care Act seems like it has some good stuff in it that they should keep.

I hope there is a match at Wrestlemania that decides the winning healthcare plan.
