I hope this guy doesn't ever die on a climb, but he's been pushing himself lately. I've watched a few recent climbs of his.

He's going to and then all of his community will gush about how he died doing what he loved and thats just how it goes while he leaves behind a wife and a kid.

yes but it's not like you can't climb with a rope and still get virtually the same experience. the only factor they're adding is maximum (unnecessary) risk. It's like playing football without a helmet and only using your head to tackle, or masturbating your genitals while driving 100mph without a seatbelt ... yeah, you might be a great driver and masturbatour, but... why?!
