Heard Roth talking about his Vegas residency. He seemed to imply EVH is sick again.

At the very least that there are no plans for any further Van Halen stuff.

The original lineup was rumored to be touring this past winter. I'm worried they are going to have to chop off another third of Eddie's tongue.

I’m sad I never got to see them. I was too little when the Diamond Dave years were peaking, and while I can enjoy For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, I legitimately despise most of the rest of the Van Hagar years.
I didn’t go when they reformed last time, and I had heard the shows weren’t too great.

The only time I saw them with Dave was 2012. It was a great show. They actually pulled out some deep cuts I never expected to hear. But it was Wolfgang on bass and “vocals” and it was Dave. If you wonder what a show with Dave would be like, just watch that video above. He’s not there to really sing the songs as much as there are songs in the background of his performances. Oh, and there was something spilled on the stage and he went fucking NUTS until it was cleaned up. Kool and the Gang opened for them and it was an absolute perfect pairing.

I was never into the studio cut of Little Guitars (or any of Diver Down really), but that live clip really takes off at the end.

I know Diver Down is probably one of the, if not the, weakest in the Dave era, and that it was done in a hurry and without much care, but I have always just loved that album for some reason.

Half covers half originals was always going to result in just a half good album. Bad idea by Ted Templeman

Which half is the good half?

Basically just Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now). The Full Bug is also a burst of rambunctious fun.

The covers are good, but I've never been a fan of studio albums with covers.
Secrets and Little Guitars are the only original songs I listen to from Diver Down
Watching some old live videos, I really miss Michael Anthony's backing vocals from the live shows I saw when Wolfgang was on bass

I like Little Guitars and The Full Bag. I tend to skip the rest.

Big Bad Bill has long been my favorite of the album. Still like The Full Bug. I pretty much like all of it except for the Kinks tune and Dancing in the Street. The Jagger/Bowie version is the correct way to cover that.

Why I Hate This Album did an episode recently on Van Halen III. It was hilarious. They really destroyed it. MA only played bass on 4 of those songs.

I don't think I've ever listened to it all the way through.
