She’s a little shallow, but there’s some character there:
-young child with incredible powers she doesn’t understand yet
-orphan lost in the multiverse
-responsible for her two moms deaths
-figures out that she’s had control over her incredible power the whole time
That's her backstory, yeah. What's her personality? She felt sorely underwritten to me
she had the best jokes, but otherwise yeah, the film (and I think Marvel in general at times) seems to think backstory to serve the plot is enough to create a character

Oh I was hoping to set up a Bible joke.

I enjoyed it way more than I expected, as someone who isn't usually an MCU fan; my biggest takeaway is that I REALLY resonated with Scarlet Witch's whole vibe, story and motivation (I got teary once or twice); I'm going to go back and watch Wandavision to see some of the "origin" of that
You were corrupted by reading an evil book?
the Bible yeah lol
did you miss this?

I'm more bummed about the wiping out of WandaVision than the underwriting of the Chavez character.

Shit, if she was just gonna be a big villain, why wipe out her construct and erase her family in the first place?

Cause that’s what pushed her over the edge. Remember most villains don’t see themselves as the villain just someone who felt they were wronged in their life.

Wanda lost the three things she loved most in this world (the loss of vision led to the loss of her “children”)

Sounds like it's a pretty mean spirited movie? Is this true?

WandaVision ended with her reading the Darkhold, a book that corrupts the reader; it’s a continuation of her story. WandaVision had a clear arc that completed with her acceptance of Vision’s death, but life goes on after the story concludes. She isolated herself, which on of itself does something to one’s psyche, but we also see her hearing her children’s voices at the end of the show. Girl clearly did herself in to become the big bad.

Yes WandaVision had a 1-minute post credits scene that was clearly setting this up, but that doesn't mean it can't undermine the character's arc from the previous several episodes. Marvel does this all the time -- remember when Iron Man made a big show of retiring at the end of Iron Man 3 which was fully thrown out the window one movie later? That would be fine save for the fact that their whole operation runs on continuity juice. Do it right, you know?

It's not the movie's biggest problem, and like I said Elizabeth Holsen is really good in this role, but as someone who considers WV the best Marvel thing in years and years, it was a bit of a bummer

I mean, how much of that was Tony Stark lying to himself?

I liked it enough, i thought i was going to hate it and its fun

-some of the effects are really weird and fuzzy, and the photography too. Looks too much like a chroma. If Marvel needs more time with these releases please, fucking take it

-What a shame to have Raimi to only let him play so little. It could have been so much better

I have no idea why anyone would be compelled to marry you and bear your children, but here we are.
