Ok, the weightlifting scene in the second episode is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

We were both surprised at the reveal at the end.

I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

We’re midway thru Ep6. One thing I’m having a hard time understanding. Why the fuck is Gideon hanging out with this Scotty douchebag? It doesn’t seem that Scotty has something on him that’s making him stay. He sure wouldn’t need Scotty to get back at his family. I just don’t understand this relationship.

I think the reason Gemstones resonates so much with me is I know and grew up around so many people just like the characters. Not as financially successful, of course, but the whole southern Baptist branch of the religion. My great-grandfather was a preacher/pastor. I have cousins that are. One of my dad’s best friends growing up became a preacher and it was just everywhere. And even as an adult one county over from where I grew up, there are so many people that would be right at home in this world.

I think gemstones is mcbrides shining star. It has all his humor but there’s more depth to the characters and John Goodman absolutely seals the deal. He’s so good in it.

Eastbound and down is top notch and just absolutely ridiculous.

MY PLUMS!
