 I'll try to remember to pop back in a few weeks and post a link when the whole thing's up on Bandcamp. Speaking of, I'm going to link the Bandcamp pages for all three artists in case anyone wants to join me in some back-catlaog trawling (I'm already familiar with Joyfultalk's stuff, but the other two are still new to me).

Joyfultalk: https://joyfultalk.bandcamp.com/
Markus Floats: https://markusfloats.bandcamp.com/
T. Gowdy: https://tgowdy.bandcamp.com/, except for his most recent album, Pachira Aquatica which is on the Shimmering Moods Bandcamp instead (https://shimmeringmoodsrecords.bandcamp ... a-aquatica)

You made me check the bands out. Constellation Records has the three as a vinyl bundle for $45 CDN + shipping. Very tempted. Crazy that it costs more to ship within Canada than to the US.

They have a new shipping partner stateside out of upstate New York that uses media mail, so I think they package everything up in their warehouse in Montreal and then it gets sent stateside to begin processing through USPS.

Me too.

Serious question: does Brett work for/with Constellation?

Nah, I'm just a big fan of theirs, so I tend to try to evangelize for the work they put out. I also get their email newsletter, which is where I heard about the changes to shipping.

The Whip has a full length coming out next month. I totally forgot this was gonna be a thing!

This is the first pressing of the black vinyl version (300 copies, unnumbered) of the Whip LP which contains the two songs from the Justin Trosper sessions (originally on the Freelance Liaison 7") as well as tracks from the never released Joe Preston sessions, and a Mike Ziegler live recording.

Includes digital pre-order of Self Titled. You get 5 tracks now (streaming via the free Bandcamp app and also available as a high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more), plus the complete album the moment it’s released.

Album of the year incoming. I don't need Gigaton anymore.

Here's a few more new things:

Sandro Perri has put out the second of his "re-visitations" of 2020, a series wherein he remixes songs from his back catalog. This one is "Love is Real," originally from his first full-length under his own name, Tiny Mirrors. As with last month's "Sky Histoire," this uses the originally released take and pushes some layers down in the mix while pulling others up into the spotlight that might have gone unnoticed before.

Roger Tellier-Craig, one fourth of Fly Pan Am, recently released his latest solo album, Études with the German sound art label, Second Editions. Consisting of four compositions for synthesizer, these pieces are tonally similar to last year's FPA album only with the songs stripped away. Texture and noise manipulation interspersed with fields of ambient tones and drones. Here's opening piece, "Duelle":

Releasing April 17 on All-Set! Editions is the debut recording of See Through 4, a new permutation of Pete Johnston's See Through Music project (previous formations appearing as See Through Two, See Through Trio, and See Through 5). This quartet (bass, piano, sax, and drums) leans a bit more on the jazzy side like the trio formation, though the description hints that there's some slices of prog styling elsewhere on the album, which was fully embodied in the rock-oriented quintet. Opener, "Another Word for Science" is up for streaming at the moment:

It really is, might have pick it up! I loved their 7 so 2008 me would totally be losing their shit over this.

You've listened to Karp before, right?

More Toronto kinda jazz, this time from Rob Clutton who is also a bass player and was Johnston's partner in the See Through Two bass duo. Counsel of Primaries (SnailBongBong, April 17) is the debut recording by the Rob Clutton Trio (Clutton on bass, Karen Ng on alto sax, and Nick Fraser on drums), playing arrangements of compositions by Clutton. Opener "Strata" can currently be streamed:

Rather different is Bitter Balls, the new album from the transcontinental 7-piece band Karkhana, out March 20 on Annihaya. A fusion of Middle/Far Eastern electro-jazz and Western psychedelic prog. Closing track, "Rock Farock," is available to listen to now:

I listened to the first 3-4 songs. It's pretty good. I really enjoyed Clean, and her cover of I'm On Fire.

I listened to it today. Not bad but the three single releases are the best songs.
