Oh, neat. I haven't messed with the playlist function much, and haven't yet required the ability to rearrange things. I just know I couldn't find it in a cursory check.

Aren’t you supposed to send the songs unmarked so there are no preconceived notions going in?

Spotify defeats the purpose. Burned CD’s that you play in your car = the only way to go on this.

FAIL.

If you sent me a mix on CD, I’d have to wait up to two weeks for it to arrive in the post and then rip it digitally using my creaky old PC laptop so I can put it on my phone, I guess.

CDs would be both inconvenient and unfair to those outside of the USA.

If you can burn a CD surely you can then rip that CD to untagged mp3s and send those as a digital playlist.

I think I finally figured out the vibe for my mix.

I feel like my recipient is aware of way more music than I am. Is that the case for a lot of you too? If so, is it acceptable to focus on making a mix that just sounds good, regardless of track uniqueness?

Yeah, I absolutely have that same feeling. The mix I make can't help but be a reflection of my own tastes (for better or worse), so I think I'll just make something which I enjoy. If my mix recipient enjoys it even a little, that's great.

Im hoping to create and recieve a mix that is enjoyable, and if i can learn of some artists that are new to me and potentially open some doors for my mix partner then thats just icing on top.

how many songs are most of you averaging? I'm thinking of between 16 and 20, but didn't know if that's too many/few.

Hmm, actually, maybe I'll make it a little shorter than that. I'll aim for one hour.

i'm not TOO familiar with my recipients tastes except for a few artists, so i pretty much dumped about 60 tracks in a playlist that i like, and i think recipient might like and/or might flow with another song i already put and then start building the actual playlist from there to about 50-60 mins. I always try to make it a playlist that i myself would want to listen to again at any given time.
