I think the lyrics are good, and fit the song perfectly.

i'm so glad that they put this where they did in the tracklist rather than burying it toward the end among the other songs where it may not have the same effect and just blends in

Reminds me of the NAIS demo.

Really love this one. Sounds like it could be a yield b-side or a fan club single from that era.

Yield b-sides were terrible. Don't besmirch this song in that way!

These aren't great by any means, but they're definitely better than quite a few Eddie songs. He's not that untouchable as a lyricist.

But this is a great, slippery song. It's hard to get a handle on it (in a good way), which matches my feelings on the record thus far.
quite a few? Eddie only really has one song I can think of where the lyrics are just bad (got some)
I'd put out another one on that same album; do you think these are worse than Supersonic?

Hmmm, fair point. Supersonic is a silly song, so the lyrics don't matter (see also: Big Wave). Alright is a song that has grander ambitions and so my expectations are higher.

I'd argue that Supersonic and Big Wave wouldn't be silly songs if not for silly lyrics; it sometimes feels like "silly song" or "fun song" are retroactively applied to songs that don't work any other way

I don't know - the music plays an important part in the development of those perceptions.

When i first heard this track i was hoping that maybe it would just stay super fucking weird with just the keyboard line the entire way through. The flourishes seemed....overblown.

Now I do not believe that.

Also this track is fantastically sequenced right after Quick Escape.

Yeah, it’s perfect right there. And it’s a beautiful song.

Not sure how I feel about this one. Seems like it could be a bit better than it is somehow. But it's interesting.

But the production is good, and they got better performances out of Eddie I think on the songs I've heard so far than previous albums.

The music here is great, plenty to kind of discover on this.

I’m not crazy about the chorus. Everything else is pretty tasty

Also surprised at how well this works, both alone and on the album.
