Re: Retrograde
Just listened to this for the, I think, 4th time. Was scrolling through Facebook (lame I know) while listening. It was enjoyable enough that I don't think it hurts the album.

Re: Retrograde
This song feels like a glimpse into the alternate reality many of us were expecting from a new PJ album (featuring lead single Can't Deny Me!). Except this would probably fade-out as soon as that amazing ending started.

I can see why this is instantly hateable. Yet, I'm with you. I'm not opposed to Ed's new age schmaltz.Chris_H_2 wrote:fuck you guys. i like this song.

Re: Retrograde
the first parts of the refrain melodically sound like the refrain from the decemberists hazards of love 2

this song is all summery warmth washing over
"7 O'Clock" is that too, but the climax of this one is slightly more successful

this one survives almost entirely on atmosphere created; if you're not moved by that atmosphere forget it, but if you are, it's a beautiful palette-cleanser between Comes Then Goes and River Cross

Yeah. I’m really trying to give it fair listen. It starts off sounding like Yellow Moon, at least it sounds like the same chord.Monkey_Driven wrote:This is maybe a 2 star song. Yeesh.
I think it’s cool if others like this though. Really got me wondering if there was a pile of songs to choose from, what are they, and what made them choose this one?

Re: Retrograde
i don’t mind a bit of new-age ed cheese if it’s not surrounded by 12 other new-age ed cheese tracks. i just found it pretty forgettable the first couple of listens, particularly as it comes after a 6 minute acoustic track that doesn’t really go many places.

Re: Retrograde
The outro is great- love the soaring "Hard Sun" Eddie vocals on this.
