A wish denied to lengthen our time
that's hitting me hard

This is a top tier song and great way to end the album. I literally got goosebumps during this song when I first listened to Gigaton. I've probably listened to this track more than any other at this point.

Again, the first part kinda reminds me of Chris Cornell...maybe because i think this one was the first song Ed did live after his death? But
Always thought I’d cross that river
The other side distant now
As I got close it turned and widened
Arising now, fading out
Is about Ed own thoughts about suicide or death as a young men?

for me, the river crossed is wanting to die, into wanting to go on

yeah, it's about living beyond suicidality
that "wish denied" is the wish for an early death

I want this dream to last forever
A wish denied to lengthen our time
fuck what an amazing line...is he talking about a dream with Chris?

Agreed with those who say they hear a lot of Peter Gabriel here, particularly in the ending refrain. I wasn't a big fan of the solo version, but this is pretty wonderful.

Really looking forward to the day when more people come around on this one.

I’m not there yet. I appreciate it more than I enjoy it right now.

Dang, that pump sound at the beginning is so killer! Such attention to detail and willingness to experiment is what makes this album special. But I'm just a music nerd, what do I know?

I’m getting there. The end hits all the emotional receptors.

love how you can hear the pump organ "breathing." just another great touch in an album full of them.

It could be incredibly cheesy but Ed breaking the fourth wall with the "live it out, let it out, get it out, shout it out" outro gets me everytime.

It's amazing. For me that might be the most affecting part of the song, affecting as the rest of it is.

yes, the construction of this song is so deceptively well-considered

I have been thinking a lot about the fast paced breaths representing an anxiety or fear Ed is experiencing. I love how it enters immediately than fades away when he starts to sing as if he's working through it with his words. In the end, the words float away but the anxiety/fear is gone as if he's been lifted up by the words.

A very eerie, emotive song that I'm shocked to hear coming from modern-day PJ. The organs and atmospheric touches immediately brought to mind Dead Can Dance - not an association I expected going into this album. It's an outstanding closer.
