Police Chief: Arrested Looters in NYC Are Immediately Released Because of Bail-Reform Law
“We had some arrests in Brooklyn where they had guns, [and] hopefully [Brooklyn district attorney] Eric Gonzalez will keep them in, [but] I can’t guarantee that’ll happen,” Monahan said. “But when it comes to a burglary [at] a commercial store, which is looting, they’re back out. . . . Because of bail reform, you’re back out on the street the next day. You cannot be held on any sort of bail. I spoke to [Manhattan district attorney] Cy Vance about that, he told me there’s nothing he can do.”
Yeah for sure man, there's no downside to being arrested and then released on bail the next day, at which point you are completely free and there are no further consequences. IMO we should be indefinitely jailing as many petty criminals as we can during a pandemic in which NYC, and NYC jails specifically, are an outbreak hotspot.

Can we please get the racist YouTube videos moved elsewhere so the trisomy twins aren't pulling the thread off topic? Thanks!

Hong Kong tactics need to be shared among US protesters. Organization is key here.
The scenes of protest in Hong Kong over the last few months can appear chaotic, filled with throngs of activists and waving umbrellas. But in the undulating waves of people is a well-developed system for moving supplies, providing aid and constructing barricades--all driven by hand signals.

Most of you guys only care about killing the messenger when the message isn’t something that fits neatly into your specific skewed perspective. You almost always completely ignore the content of the message, and focus solely on talking shit about the messenger. You never actually address the abhorrent behavior if it clearly proves contrary to your narrative. People like the woman in that video exist. They are racists. They also believe they have a right to violently steal other people’s property. And they scream racial slurs while raging about it.
Now that clearly doesn’t change the facts of the George Floyd case, or any other police injustice that people feel compelled to protest. They have the right to assemble and the right to protest. Just as businesses owners have the right to protect their property and business.
Can’t you guys, any of you, just address this? Or at least acknowledge the wild inconsistencies which your narrative requires.

Just as you ignore any part of reality that would disprove your preconceived notions. And somehow you self righteously believe you are the open minded ones. Lol

Yep, there certainly are many many weird, angry, racist people all across the world. For sure this is one of them, and she happens to be black. I'm sure you could post many similar examples with a simple YouTube search.
The point you are totally missing though is that these protests are about excessive police powers and simple police brutality. The video examples of such acts by your police even just across the last few days are in the hundreds.
The thing is that you have a right to hold the police to a much higher standard than that. You have a right to expect so much better of your police than what you are seeing now. The police can't stop brutalising innocent and peaceful protesters even during a nationwide protest about police brutality FFS.
Not shooting the messenger here, just not sure what your message actually is to be honest. Are you saying that blacks can be racist to? I don't think that is a surprise to anyone with a brain. There are shitstains across all races and nationalities.
The looters are pieces of shit and aren't there for the protests. But even still, hundreds of years of peaceful protests have done fuck all, so I guess a bit of violence will at least get people paying some attention. I don't condone it but I can certainly understand it.
Police powers have been unchecked for years and they are equipped like an army. The average citizen has zero power and is treated like shit time and again, their rights as a human ignored in the name of some imaginary greater good. Hearing that protesters and/or looters are unable to be held for long is a good thing to me as God knows the power needs some redistribution.
I actually wonder if you even understand the apparent argument you are having here tbh.

I'll say it.
"Given that racism can only exist when one group has power and influence over another" [...] claims of Black people being racist often lacks the conversation about the necessity for being able to exercise power and authority, which are essential components of racism."
[...]
"There is also a big difference between prejudice and racism. Black people can be prejudice but they cannot be racist since they hold little power to enforce discrimination against another group.
As stated by Sobantu Mzwakali in his piece entitled Black people can’t be racist:
Prejudice refers to a positive or negative evaluation of another person based on their perceived group membership. Racism on the other hand refers to social actions, practices or beliefs or political systems that consider different races to be ranked as inherently superior or inferior to each other. Furthermore, racism is socio-economic, with systemic structures which promote one race’s powers over another. Socio-economic being the operative word, I am certain you will agree that black people do not have the resources to impose such oppressive structures which enforce their superiority. White people on the other hand have, and had imposed them on blacks for over four centuries of slavery and colonialism. Black people can be prejudiced, but not racist.
”Black people are not excused from being prejudice towards other groups. This can include being transphobic, homophobic, xenophobic, and a slew of other discriminatory actions that accuse another group as being less than Black people. However, Black people cannot properly enforce these discriminations to systematically reduce the power or influence of said discriminated group. The ability to enforce your discriminations and prejudices in such a way that leads to power structures where you can ensure a race is inferior to you is racism."

Really? The video may have an inelegantly worded title, but I found it interesting. It sparked discussion, and this is a discussion board. Is there to be no diversity of thought here?
