Sohla is on the most recent episode of the podcast The Sporkful. When asked how the white hosts of the test kitchen have reacted to everything going in right now, she credited Molly as having a heartfelt and meaningful response. She also said "But then there's people like Brad who I genuinely think just found out that racism is real, so it's going to take different people different amounts of time to understand what's happening." And yeah, that tracks with my impression of Brad, poor guy

I don't think that's exactly fair. What I mean when I say that it makes sense that Brad is genuinely just discovering that racism exists is not that he is dumb. I think it is more that he was raised right so he has worked hard and created success in his life and treats everyone with respect and friendliness. He is not racist, but what society is reckoning with in this moment is that being not racist is insufficient. Simply being not racist is complacency which allows the status quo to persist. The standard has to be anti-racism.
