We’re up to the S1E6 I think. Hope you never get fired from the Yellowstone ranch. Jesus.

That the episode where John let's Tate pick the biggest donut in the house? If so,

No.

The episode where Jimmy starts the fight after bringing back that calf that was stuck in the thorn bush. They took the guy to the train station instead of the bus station.

My reasons are shallow, but here goes...

originally, i thought this was a period piece about settling the west. i enjoy things like that. i know now it's not.

over the holiday, i had a brief conversation with some in-laws here in okc, in-laws i clash with ideologically (big time), and one of them talked this show up like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. it was then i decided i would opt out. this particular person has also spouted off qanon-specific garbage i can't let go of, therefore their opinion means nothing to me.

awfully close-minded of me, i know.

I can see why the show could appeal to them. Now I don't think the show does this but the characters definitely believe in their own mythology. The deeply believe that the way they live is the only way to live and everyone else are cucks. The show however is pretty clear that the characters are compromised pieces of shit who occasionally do good things mostly for their own selfish reasons and to maintain said mythology. Except for the Kayce character he's mostly good. The rest are portrayed as horrible people. As the seasons have gone on some of them have softened I suppose.

The spin off 1883 is a period piece and its very good except for the main characters voice overs which are absurdly goofy. Sam Elliot is awesome.

The main draw for me is that it reminds me of the doctor I used to work for. He had a cattle ranch and it’s very easy for me to see similarities between him and John. Now, his operation was quite a bit smaller and his land wasn’t up against a reservation (it did border a lot of Mennonite lands tho) but I see this and wonder “did Doug ever do shit like this?” Not the really bad stuff, but some of the more grey side of things. He didn’t have a helicopter but he did have a plane and pilot’s license. He had hired cowboys just like John does. Don’t think he branded any of them, but who knows. I see this show as being the ultimate dream for ol’ Dr Doug, and for some reason can draw entertainment out of that.

Well put.

BTW I've got an episode left in S3. I would definitely call this the Jamie and Beth season.

Well it's a Peacock series, not a paramount+ series to start...

Looks like it airs on the Paramount Network. No idea why it’s on Peacock. 1883 is on Paramount+

So is Mayor of Kingstown. Another thread-worthy Sheridan show.

I think Peacock got the streaming rights before Paramount had a streaming service so Paramount can’t put their number one show on their streaming platform. Pretty funny.

The ending to season 3 and Ep1 of season 4 were probably the peak for me, in this show. Really intense few scenes. Glad I binged this after airing because the way season 3 ends... I really wouldn't have wanted to wait to know.

Looks like I'll be waiting for a bit.
Spoiler: show
I like how the events immediately preceding the execution attempts leave it open to guess how many people could have been capable of this. I feel like only Roarke would have the means to pull this off, but Jamie and Chief Rainwater's lawyer certainly at least have the stomach for it. I never watched Dallas, but I know enough about that show's place in pop culture to say that this is the Who Shot JR? moment for this show. It likely invited a lot more comparisons.

I think Beth doesn't make it. Everyone else does. Is Jimmy paralyzed? Don't answer any of this please.
