A good friend of mine is working on season two, which starts filming soon. She's so excited but also really bummed that it's going to get spoiled for her.

Doing some reading and listening about this show after finishing, and the biggest surprise of all is that the actor who plays Mr. Milchick only has SIX acting credits to his name. Wtf? The dude is electric, every scene he's in, he becomes the center of its energy and just completely changes the mood. Just awesome.

One thing I like best is that I have no idea where the show is going. I would've accepted it being just one season long, because with the way it ends, I don't see how we ever see the innies again--why wouldn't Lumon just fire all the outies? But however they decide to address this, I completely trust the writers and directors of this show.

If I had ONE quibble with the plotting, it's that I got extremely excited when it seemed for a minute that Mark was going to reveal the plot to Ricken and not his sister. As siblings, I just thought it was too easy for him to reveal it to her--obviously she'd believe him immediately. Ricken is a much tougher nut to crack, not sure if he would've 100% believed Mark, and I loved how Mark S. sees him totally differently than Mark. Just not enough time left in the season, I guess.

Early in the season, it was made clear that Irving had been working there the longest, right? Might explain why he's glitching out with his paintings, as his implant might have earlier software.

While this show obviously shares some DNA with Devs and to some extent West World (big tech and big data gone bad), I think it's worlds ahead of those other shows when it comes to crafting characters and stories that you want to follow and care about. Just great all around.

Haven't read through this thread yet, but excited to.

Nice write up. The show rules. But I kind of think his sister would be a tougher sell than Ricken. Mark & Ricken don’t have the closest relationship, I think Ricken would take him seriously. His sis knows there probably some ptsd there and may reserve judgement. Ultimately I think they’re both willing to believe, though.

We spent the weekend at a resort in Kohler, WI, a company town founded 150 years ago. I believe the resort building used to be the quarters for all the immigrants that were brought over to work for the Kohler’s. Serious Severance vibes with the latest Kohler on loop in the lobby (the recently deceased Herb Kohler), and messages on stuff like this:

It was all lovely, but I couldn’t help mumbling “Praise Kier” as I walked around. By today, as I waited around for my wife’s spa treatment to finish up, I was creeped out enough and ready to leave.

I watch the final episode every 5-6 weeks. One of the best episodes of television of all time.

There are parts from these first few episodes that I had totally forgotten. For some reason Peter’s hallucinations didn’t stick with me (funny). I remember the inside-Lumon stuff the most.

I did a rewatch of Season One over the weekend—such a great show.

And I found out there's a podcast covering each episode, hosted by Ben Stiller and Adam Scott.
