I love Tony Joe White. I'm pissed I missed seeing him here in Perth pre covid. Guess I won't be seeing him anytime soon now though...

I hope you don't see him soon.

Saw him 3-4 times and he was great.

Code: Select all

At the beginning of the year, M83 announced a new album, Fantasy, the proper follow-up to 2016’s Junk. At the time, we heard “Oceans Niagara” from it, which made our list of the best songs of that week. The album is out in full on March 17, but today the Anthony Gonzalez-led project has shared what they’re calling the first chapter of the album, aka the first six tracks. That’s five more new M83 tracks than we had yesterday.

“I wanted to be more present lyrically and vocally even if that was daunting at first,” Gonzalez said when he announced Fantasy. “I thought if I could achieve that, this album will be more personal than those that came before.”

I am into anything Ripley Johnson and so I'm pretty stoked that his Rose City Band is releasing a new album (Garden Party) in April. Here's the lead single, Chasing Rainbows:

Now I just need some more Moon Duo in my veins...

oh dip, it's out tomorrow? Now I've got two albums to look forward to.

She's actually headlining a free music festival here in April.

This Stupid World is the album I've been waiting for from Yo La Tengo. A concise package of textured, fuzzy goodness. I will be listening to this all year long.

What say you, dad?

I'm only three songs in, and I'm not as well-versed in YLT, but this sounds like it was made in the mid-90s and I'm here for it.

first full listen-thru. I enjoyed it. Still sounds like early YLT to my ears. I'll probably be listening on and off today.

First YLT album I've ever listened to.

It's cool but nothing that I'd call exceptional. I like it well enough but not sure how much replay value it has.

I was playing it in the car last night, and my wife said, "I know you like this, but could we play something with a little less drone?"
